Visit the Beach Shack Quest Walkthrough

Go to the Beach Shack between their operating hours (9am to 5pm) and you will trigger a cutscene. Sunny and Eleanor will welcome you and ask what you like to do more between bug-catching and fishing. Regardless of your choice, you will be given the Basic Fishing Rod and the Basic Bug Net as a welcome gift.

You can also upgrade these tools through the shack with the use of kelp essences.

How to use the Fishing Rod

How to use the Fishing Rod - Coral Island Visit the Beach Shack Quest Walkthrough

Use the fishing rod in any large body of water to cast a line. After a few seconds, a silhouette of a fish will approach your line and bite it. This will start the minigame, where you will have to reel in your catch while it is not resisting. Reeling in the fish while it is thrashing about will quickly raise the break meter, and once it is full, your line will snap and the fish will get away. You will have to time your reeling right to pull the fish closer until you can pull your catch out of the water.

How to use the Bug Net

How to use the Bug Net - Coral Island Visit the Beach Shack Quest Walkthrough

You can use the bug net to catch crawling or flying bugs, as well as sea critters in the ocean. The bug net can be primed, which will slow you down into a crawl while revealing a cone on the ground as a guide. Approach your target just enough so that they are within the cone before swinging the net and catching it. There are bugs that are too wary of anything that approaches them, so you will need to get bug net upgrades that have a wider catch area to be able to catch these kinds of bugs.
