A Request from the Sea People is the third chapter in Dave the Diver. Dave arrives at the secluded Sea People Village, but the leader of the village, Tenzhin, does not approve of him being inside the village, and so Dave has to prove himself to the villagers first. Read ahead as we go through the events of A Request from the Sea People in Dave the Diver and share some helpful tips for a great playthrough.
Dave is taken to Ramo’s father, Tenzhin, who disapproves of him being in the Sea People village. Tenzhin says that for him to accept Dave, Dave has to gain the approval of the sea people first. To help Dave, he gives him the Sea People Mirror, which allows Dave to instantly travel between the Sea People village and Cobra’s boat. He also gives Dave a village map.
When using the Sea People Mirror, remember that traveling through the mirror from the village to the boat will count as a finished dive attempt, and it will progress time forward to the next part of the day. Also, the mirror can only be used in the morning and in the afternoon.
Dave decides to head back up to the boat to install the mirror on it and finds out it’s already late at night. He also goes to the sushi bar and finds out that Bancho has gone home for the day. He then decides to stay up and clean the bar when Yoshie comes by. Yoshie then stays for a bit and decides to recount the incident involving Bancho back in his previous job.
The following morning, Dr. Bacon visits again, and Dave tells him about his journey to the Sea People village. Dr. Bacon then suggests that Dave talk to the villagers to see how he can help them out.
The Sea People Village’s Trust
Use the mirror to travel to the village, or you can also just take the long path. Once you arrive at the village, open your map, and you will see the villagers that need help marked with an exclamation mark. At first, only a few quests will appear, with new quests getting unlocked after completing the previous ones.
Each helped villager will gain you some village credits as well as some Bei, which is the village’s currency. You will need a total of 100 Credits to gain Tenzhin’s trust. There are more than enough quests to earn enough credits.
Offer Flowers to King Long’s Statue
Talk to Kazhin at the seed shop, and he will tell you about King Long, the ruler of the Sea People way back then. He then asks you to place an offering of flowers on King Long’s statue. Pick up the flowers outside the shop and bring them to the statue found in the middle of the village. Head back to Kazhin, and you will be rewarded with x10 Bei and x10 Credit.
Deliver Mima’s Lunch Boxes
Talk to Mima in her restaurant, and she will ask for your help in delivering two lunch boxes to the gatekeepers. Pick up the lunch box and bring it over to the gate entrance, where the two gatekeepers are. Afterwards, head back to Mima to be rewarded with x10 Bei and x10 Credit.
Catch the Runaway Seahorses
Go to the arcade and talk to Linchen, and she will ask you to catch the seahorses who escaped their ranches. You will need to capture four seahorses around the village, but since you cannot use your fishing equipment while in the village, make sure that you have completed the ‘Reticent Girl’ sub-mission from Chapter 2 to obtain the Bug Net.
Here are the locations of all the seahorses:
Crowned Seahorse – Inside Tenzhin’s house
Dwarf Seahorse – Inside the seed shop
Giraffe Seahorse – Near King Long’s statue
Hedgehog Seahorse – At the banner in front of the restaurant
After capturing all seahorses, go back to Linchen and you will be rewarded with x20 Bei, and x20 Credit.
Wedding Song Record
Go to the higher area of the village and go inside the King Long Shrine to talk to Niamo. She will ask for your help in looking for a stone tablet that they need for a wedding. Niamo says that there is a copy of the tablet inside the Sea People Record Chamber.
Go to the Record Chamber and pick up the stone tablet. Then, go back to Niamo and hand over the tablet to her. You will be rewarded with x20 Bei and x20 Credit.
Sea Person at the Workshop
Go inside the workshop and talk to Duwa who is currently sick. You offer him a coral porridge like the same one you gave to Ramo.
Head over to the west side of the depths where you will find the Lily Corals and Feather Corals; you will need to gather two of each this time. Once done, go to Bancho to have the porridge cooked, then go back to Duwa and give him the porridge. You will be rewarded with x35 Bei and x25 Credit.
Head back inside the arcade and talk to Daphne. She will ask for your help in retrieving her dolphin whistle that she gambled off. Next, talk to Junak, who has the whistle. He agrees to give the whistle back, but only if you win against him in a matching game. You also have to place a bet every time you play.
After winning a game, he will give you the whistle. Hand the whistle over to Daphne, but she will let you keep the whistle instead, plus 15 Credits. This whistle will allow you to ride a beluga within the village, which swims faster than your sprint swim. However, each ride will cost some Bei.
The Sea People Village’s Trust cont’d.
After gaining enough Credits, head back to Tenzhin to report on your progress. He will then accept your presence in the village and ask for a favor. The Divine Tree that has been powering the Sea People village has been getting hotter, affecting everyone in the village. Tenzhin wants Dave to check the glacier that is underneath the tree to find out what is causing the issue.
The catch is that they need the key to the Glacial Passage, but the key has been sealed inside the Abandoned Cave which no one has been to a hundred of years. Dave will have to retrieve the key from the cave first in order to access the Glacial Zone.
Tenzhin advises that you prepare to venture into the cave for now. Proceed with your fishing day and take the time to enhance your equipment or complete any sub missions or VIP missions that are about to come up.
After ending the night you complete the chapter, you will see a cutscene where Duff is having a dream which transitions into a rhythm minigame. Completing this minigame will unlock the Leahs RUN minigame as an app on your phone.
Stormy Night 2
After completing the first Stormy Night sub mission, you will be informed by Sato once again that another rare creature has been living in the hole. Wait for another stormy night for the vortex to appear. This time, you will arrive at the Mantis Shrimp’s lair.
The Mantis Shrimp is an optional boss and defeating it will give you its super rare MarinCa card, as well as the Mantis Shrimp Tail as a unique upgrade component.
