Destiny 2 Adhortative God Roll: Best PvP & PvE Perks

The Adhortative is a Solar adaptive frame pulse rifle from the reprised Undying weapon set. Adaptive frame pulses are some of the most reliable Legendaries to use in PvP. They are also versatile enough to be useful in most PvE, especially since pulse rifles are often part of the Champion stun weapon rotation. With so many great pulse rifles to choose from, how does the Adhortative stack up against some of the best Legendaries in the game? Let’s go find out.

I wasn’t exactly blown away by the Adhortative when I first got my hands on it. It took quite a while for me to put together the right weapon perk combinations to definitively say that it’s good to use out in the sandbox. I went back and forth on Heal Clip with Incandescent and then with Headseeker. I also considered going for range over stability and vice versa. But in the end, I think I was able to put something together… at the cost of more than a handful of Enhancement Cores.

How to get Adhortatitve in Destiny 2

Since it’s part of the reprised set for Season of the Wish, the only way to get the Adhortative is to complete runs of the Coil. The weapons in the Undying set do not drop as frequently as the Wish weapons, so it might take a while to get it even with Lair Keys in your possession. You can also get them from the chest at the end of the Starcrossed Exotic mission.

If you have enough Wish engram on hand, you can exchange four of them for a random roll Adhortative. You can use this farming technique to get some interesting rolls for you to try out. Occasionally, a red border will drop and once you have activated five of them, you can craft your own Adhortative with enhanced perks.

Best Adhortative PvP God Rolls

  • 1st Column: Arrowhead Brake
  • 2nd Column: Ricochet Rounds
  • Range Masterwork
  • Counterbalance Stock Mod
  • Enhanced Slickdraw + Headseeker
  • Heal Clip + Golden Tricorn

The Slickdraw + Headseeker is best appreciated by players who like a fast pace. The reason why enhanced Slickdraw is much preferred is because the enhanced perk significantly reduces the aim penalties. Headseeker is by far the best perk on pulse rifles. You can substitute Moving Target in place of Headseeker if you’re more of a duelist.

Heal Clip is a relatively new perk that most players would assume has benefits in both PvP and PvE. Right now, I’m leaning towards PvP for Heal Clip much in the same way I think Kill Clip is better suited for PvP. I’ll get back to why I think Healclip falls short a bit in PvE. Healclip restores a big chunk of health and armor a second after taking down an opponent and reloading. Pushing with full health usually makes all the difference in 2v1 scenarios and Heal Clip assures you that you both will win that 2v1. Even more so now that you have Golden Tricorn active for 7 seconds.

The Heal Clip roll is an interesting one. You’ll want to adjust your timing so that the perk activates just before going into the next engagement. You also can’t hold onto it for any amount of time. I don’t think the Enhanced Heal Clip is much better than the base Healclip. Enhanced only extends the reload window to around 5 seconds instead of the normal 3-4 seconds.

Best Adhortative PvE God Rolls

  • 1st Column: Smallbore
  • 2nd Column: Flared Magwell
  • Reload Speed Masterwork
  • Major Spec Mod
  • Heal Clip + Headseeker

The biggest issue I have with Heal Clip on this weapon in PvE is the fact that Adhortative takes a while to reload. The thing players have to understand is that you don’t get instantly healed when you press the reload button. You need to wait for the reload animation to finish before the perk kicks in. As you can imagine, the precious milliseconds in between reloads could mean life or death in mid-tier game content and above. I’ve managed to make it work by leaning on the Solar Hunter’s reload speed buffs and having Flared Magwell in the 2nd column.

I started the Heal Clip experiment with Incandescent first. The logic is that the explosions from the Solar subclass and Artifact mods would give me the breathing room to safely reload and heal. The problem was the initial kill. Incandescent is great once you get it going but if you don’t get that fast kill, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. This is why I went for Headseeker. The perk gets kills faster and allows me to activate Heal Clip freely. I don’t get the initial explosion from Incandescent but I still get the explosion from the Artifact mods. So not a complete loss, at least for the rest of the season.

  • 1st Column: Chambered Compensator
  • 2nd Column: Ricochet Rounds
  • Range Masterwork
  • Counterbalance Stock Mod
  • Feeding Frenzy + Incandescent

Precision kills are the name of the game with this perk pairing. Feeding frenzy allows you to reload faster and faster the more kills you stack up and what better way to rack up a kill counter than with this season’s Artifact mods. Incandescent spreads scorch to nearby targets, setting them up for more explosions. It’s a chaotic and fun roll that may be worth looking out for.

How good is the Adhortative?

Despite the issues I have with Heal Clip, the weapon is good in most content. It’s mostly due to it being an Adaptive frame pulse and the fact that this season’s Artifact mods are insanely good. If you want to play around with Heal Clip, this is one of the few weapons that can roll with it currently. I vastly prefer Heal Clip on the Heliocentric QSc but at least the pulse can hit from long range.

When compared to Jorum’s Claw, which is another Solar Adaptive pulse, Adhortative has fewer base stats but a much better perk for PvE. The scope is quite nice in comparison to the other weapons in the set. It just may yet be good enough to hold onto until the end of the season.

These are the Adhortatitve base stats before any perks are applied:

  • Impact: 29
  • Range: 41
  • Stability: 50
  • Handling: 42
  • Reload Speed: 39
  • Zoom: 17
  • Rounds Per Minute: 390
  • Magazine: 36

The Adhortative’s perk pool has a few interesting perks that are useful under the right conditions. Shoot to Loot pairs with Incandescent allowing you to scoop up Orbs of Power and amoo bricks per explosion. Harmony with Heal Clip is another one albeit with an extra step to get that healing effect.

3rd Column Perks:

  • Air Assault
  • Feeding Frenzy
  • Slickdraw
  • Shoot to Loot
  • Loose Change
  • Attrition Orbs
  • Heal Clip

4th Column Perks:

  • Disruption Break
  • Deconstruct
  • Harmony
  • Golden Tricorn
  • Moving Target
  • Headseeker
  • Incandescent

In its entirety, Adhortative doesn’t move the needle much if we’re talking about great adaptive pulses. But considering that we’re going to be stuck in this season for the next six months or so, we can do worse than a pulse rifle that heals its user. Well, that’s all I have for this Adhortatitve god roll guide. Good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.
