Upgrading the Inventory of a player in Enshrouded requires the help of the Hunter who has the knowledge on crafting backpacks with treated hide. With all of the stuff one can obtain during their journey through Embervale, having a good-sized inventory is a must. Read ahead as we share the steps on how to upgrade the inventory and get more inventory slots in Enshrouded.
Rescuing the Hunter
The Hunter is the crucial NPC in order to get the backpack upgraded, so she will have to be rescued first. The Hunter is trapped at the Ancient Vault northeast of the starting area which can be accessed after rescuing the Blacksmith.
Once you have rescued the Hunter, head back to your base and summon her in it. You can then talk to the Hunter and start working on the first backpack upgrade.
How to get the Small Backpack
The Small Backpack becomes available to craft from the Hunter’s crafting menu. But in order to craft one, you will first have to make a Drying Rack to make Dried Fur.
To craft a Drying Rack, you will need:
- x10 Wood Logs
- x6 String
Set up the Drying Rack in your base and you can use it to start producing Dried Fur by placing Animal Fur and Salt in it.
You can then proceed to make a Small Backpack with the following materials:
- x3 Torn Cloth
- x4 Dried Fur
- x5 String
The Small Backpack can be equipped to give you 8 additional inventory slots, giving you a total of 32 inventory slots.
How to get the Medium Backpack
In order to unlock the recipe for the Medium Backpack, you must first accept and complete the Hunter’s quest called The Hunter’s Hand Spindle. This quest will have you travel to Westcott and look for clues on where the Hunter may have left her hand spindle. Your search will then lead you to an abandoned camp where you find the hand spindle. Bring the hand spindle back home and set it on the camp to unlock the recipe.
With the hand spindle, you can then craft Linen using Flax. Flax can be obtained by picking up the patch of blue flowers that grow in the Revelwood Forest. 1 Linen will require 2 Flax, so gather 12 Flax for the backpack then process all of them through the hand spindle.
You can then proceed to make a Medium Backpack with the following materials:
- x6 Dried Fur
- x6 Linen
The Medium Backpack can be equipped and swapped with the Small Backpack to give you 16 additional inventory slots, giving you a total of 40 inventory slots.
How to get the Large Backpack
In order to unlock the recipe for the Large Backpack, you must first accept and complete the Hunter’s quest called In Need of a Tanning Station. In this quest, players will have to travel to Raven’s Keep and recover the tanning station from a place that is guarded by high level enemies. Once the tanning station has been recovered, set it up back at the base using the following materials:
- x10 Wooden Planks
- x4 Nails
- x10 Clay
- x10 Tar
With the tanning station, you can then produce Leather using the following materials:
- x10 Dried Fur
- x20 Salt
- x2 Ammonia Glands
As for the Large Backpack, it can then be crafted from the Hunter using the following materials:
- x5 Leather
- x5 Linen
The Large Backpack can be equipped and swapped with the Medium Backpack to give you 24 additional inventory slots, giving you a total of 48 inventory slots.
