Halo Veteran Joseph Staten has recently joined Netflix and now is making an original AAA game. He has worked at Microsoft for 18 years and was recently the head of creative on Halo Infinite.

After leaving 343 Industries earlier this year, Staten has now joined Netflix to create a new game. He reports that he is now the Creative Director for this brand-new AAA multiplatform game and original IP. From his Twitter post, he looks excited about his new job.

In my work life, there's nothing I love more than collaborating with others to build worlds filled with iconic characters, deep mysteries, and endless adventures. 1/2

Based on the Twitter post, Staten has not revealed any other details about the new game, but he is confident that it is a AAA game, so expect something big.

Staten worked at Bungie in 2000 where he was the writer and cinematic director on the first two Halo games. He was also a writer on Halo 3 and Halo Reach. He was the creative consultant on Halo Wars. He then worked as a writer and creative director on Halo 3 ODST. He also wrote and was the co-creative director of Destiny.

Back in 2014, Staten then returned to Microsoft as senior creative director at Xbox Game Studios Publishing. He left the publishing division in 2020 to help out 343 Industries launch Halo Infinite which had problems. Then this January 2023, Staten left 343 to rejoin Xbox Game Studios Publishing.
