Hazelight announces new co-op game Split Fiction

Hazelight Studios, the masterminds behind the award-winning It Takes Two and A Way Out, are back with another mind-bending co-op experience. Announced today by EA and Hazelight, Split Fiction promises to redefine the genre with its unique blend of action-adventure, split-screen gameplay, and a narrative that seamlessly blends sci-fi and fantasy.

In this epic new adventure, players take on the roles of Mio and Zoe, two contrasting writers who find themselves trapped within their own stories. One a sci-fi aficionado, the other a fantasy enthusiast, they must learn to cooperate and master a diverse set of abilities to escape with their memories intact.

And when we say diverse, we mean it! Get ready to escape a supernova, challenge a monkey to a dance-off, perform gravity-defying hoverboard tricks, battle an evil kitty, and ride anything from gravity bikes to – wait for it – a sandshark! With constantly shifting worlds and unexpected challenges, Split Fiction guarantees a thrilling and unpredictable experience.

“This is definitely our most epic co-op adventure yet,” says Josef Fares, Founder of Hazelight Studios. “Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling. It’s going to blow your mind!”

EA is equally enthusiastic about the project. “Friendships and great memories are made through playing amazing co-op games together – and no one does it better than Hazelight,” says Jeff Gamon, General Manager of EA Partners.

Of course, no Hazelight game would be complete without the Friend’s Pass. This awesome feature allows one player to invite a friend to play for free, and Split Fiction takes it a step further with crossplay support across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Split Fiction launches on March 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
