In the Shadow of the Relic is a side quest in Sebastian Sallow’s relationship quests in Hogwarts Legacy. Sebastian has learned how to use the relic, but along with this discovery, he has also raised something more sinister.
This guide will lead into the path of learning the three Unforgivable Curses in Hogwarts Legacy. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to complete these quests and get to the choices that will lead to these curses.
How to unlock In the Shadow of the Relic Relationship Quest
To unlock the In the Shadow of Relic Relationship Quest, you must first complete the In the Shadow of Hope Relationship Quest.

- Talk to Ominis at the catacomb
- Find Sebastian at the catacombs
- Defeat the Inferi
- Find Sebastian

- Defend yourself against Solomon

- Talk to Sebastian
In the Shadow of the Relic relationship quest Walkthrough
After completing the required quest, head back to Feldcroft Catacomb to meet up with Ominis and start the quest.
Talk to Ominis at the catacomb
Meet up with Ominis at the entrance of the catacomb where Anne is also present. Anne also wanted to stop her brother from harming himself and the rest of the hamlet in his search for her curse.
Find Sebastian at the catacombs
Enter the catacombs and make your way through the rooms to find Sebastian.
Defeat the Inferi
As you make your way through the catacombs, you’ll encounter many Inferi in the rooms. The Inferi are tough and can take lots of hits before they go down. They also come in hordes, so try not to get yourself swarmed by taking them one by one.
Find Sebastian
Sebastian was last seen in the Great Room, but he’s nowhere to be found. Continue moving deeper into the catacombs where you’ll find a higher ledge. Look for piles of bones inside the niches on the side of the walls and use them to create a ramp up the ledge. Use the ramp to get to Sebastian.
Talk to Sebastian
Talk to Sebastian to find out that he caused the Inferi to rise up. Your conversation will then get interrupted by Solomon.
Defend yourself against Solomon
You’ll then have to fight against Solomon. He can easily be stun locked with the right spell combos, but it can get challenging and busy since the Inferi will also join the fight and attack you. You can use the barrels and jars in the area to deal damage against Solomon and the Inferi.
Once Solomon’s health is down, continue watching the cutscene between Sebastian and Solomon.
Follow Sebastian
Follow Sebastian as he goes out of the catacomb.
Talk to Sebastian
Once you get out of the catacombs, you’ll get to talk to Sebastian. At this point, you’ll get to choose between two dialogue options about the Killing Curse. Choosing the “Everyone should know that curse.” will allow you to learn Avada Kedavra. Complete the spell learning mechanic to learn the spell. Afterwards, you’ll complete the quest.
Learning Avada Kedavra
If you decide not to learn Avada Kedavra during this quest, you’ll have another chance of learning it later on, but only if you don’t turn in Sebastian during the In the Shadow of Fate quest. If Sebastian is not turned in, you can still visit him in the Undercroft and ask him to teach you the Unforgivable Spells.

Completing the quest will give you the following rewards:
- 180 XP
