Review Aggregation Website Metacritic has recently released a statement regarding its moderation with reviews after the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores review bombing situation.
Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC expansion was released a week ago and was widely praised by critics and reviewers worldwide. This was due to its amazing story and the new gameplay mechanics that got added to the game. That is until at one plot point in the story that started some critics to review bomb the DLC to oblivion with now a user score of 4.0.

After completing the main story of the Burning Shores DLC, players will get the chance to choose romance with Seyka, the companion Aloy joined up with at the start of the DLC. Choosing the option would prompt Aloy to kiss Seyka.

Some users have an issue with this ending and have criticized Guerilla Games and Sony for adding this option.
Due to this review bombing, Metacritic and Fandom have released a new statement in response. Both shared the statement with Eurogamer. They know of the “abusive and disrespectful reviews of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores and claimed they are working on improving their processes and tools to introduce stricter moderation soon.
“Fandom is a place of belonging for all fans and we take online trust and safety very seriously across all our sites including Metacritic,” they said.
“Metacritic is aware of the abusive and disrespectful reviews of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores and we have a moderation system in place to track violations of our terms of use.
“Our team reviews each and every report of abuse (including but not limited to racist, sexist, homophobic, insults to other users, etc) and if violations occur, the reviews are removed. We are currently evolving our processes and tools to introduce stricter moderation in the coming months.”
