New World weapon XP farm & best locations (October 2023)

Some locations for fast weapon XP farming in New World Season 3 have been moved alongside the release of Rise of the Angry Earth. Ideally, the best weapon farming locations contain enemies that have a fast spawn rate. In this guide, I will help you grind for weapon XP easily, and find the best weapon XP farm locations, so you can get weapon mastery fast.

    In this guide:

    • How to Easily Farm Weapon XP
    • Best Weapon XP Farming Locations
      • The Hollowing, Great Cleave
      • Hibbotsfield, Mourning Dale
      • New Balefire, Mourning Dale
      • Genesis of Malevolence, Edengrove
      • Brightwood Isle, Brightwood
      • Eastshore Pier, Restless Shore

From my own time playing New World, I’ve learned that Weapon Mastery is crucial. It requires farming for weapon XP to unlock bonuses, modifiers, and abilities for that specific weapon. The more you wield a weapon, the more Weapon Mastery Points you’ll accumulate, which can be allocated across two branching skill trees, allowing players to mix and match to establish their unique combat style.

How to Easily Farm Weapon XP

The best way to farm weapon XP is by going to certain locations with many enemies and taking down as many as you can with AOE attacks using the weapon you want to earn Weapon Mastery with. On those locations, attract as many enemies before taking them all out at once with AOE. This easily farms weapon XP much faster than taking them down individually. This way you’ll be able to take out a group with AOE attacks before immediately moving on to the next one.

It’s worth noting that weapon XP farming is best done once you’ve reached Level 60 which is the New World level cap. This is because you’ll get diminishing returns for both player and weapon XP when eliminating enemies that are 10+ levels below you. Once you reach Level 60, this no longer applies making it easier to farm weapon XP when eliminating lower-level enemies. It’s generally ideal to level up your Weapon Mastery naturally when below the level cap versus specifically grinding for weapon XP.

Also, you earn more weapon XP when eliminating enemies alone as opposed to when in a raid group. This is because you share weapon XP when fighting together with a group.

If you have to be with a group, you can play songs with your group to boost your weapon XP gain. This works even if you’re not fighting next to friends and are spread across the map. Songs like “Blacksmith Arm” and “All Together Now” work best for farming Weapon Mastery.

Additionally, use a weapon XP boost to gain weapon levels really fast even just for a limited time. Open your inventory and click on the booster button next to the repair button on the bottom left of the screen. This will open the list of Weapon XP Boosters that you have available which will drastically shorten the time needed to grind for Weapon Mastery. These are available across all your characters.

    Best Weapon XP Farming Locations

The following are the best locations to farm weapon XP in New World Season 3. The farm locations are easy to access and repeat for quick leveling up:

    The Hollowing, Great Cleave

New World Thorpe location (map credits to mapgenie.io)

Commander Thorpe’s location for fast weapon XP farming in New World Season 3 has been moved to Great Cleave. This is still the best way to farm weapon XP in New World. Although his location changed since the new update, this Elite Boss wasn’t removed and can be found spawning in The Hollowing which features Level 49-50 enemies. To get there, fast travel to the Battleclast Shrine and head southwest. Enter the area with the big floating pylon to start the event.

The event works similarly to before, with mobs being cleared and Commander Thorpe spawning. Eliminate the enemies there and Thorpe will spawn granting a big boost of weapon XP upon defeat. Standing too close to Thorpe when it spawns can result in instant death due to object spawns. Although this event gives slightly less XP, but is faster overall. Joining a raid group may result in a penalty, so solo or small-group farming is recommended for more XP.

    Hibbotsfield, Mourning Dale

You can find Hibbotsfield north of Mourning Dale which are cornfields that contain Level 50 Corrupted enemies that are easy to pull. There’s also plenty of resources here making it a great place for farming on resources as well as weapon XP. This place is ideal for players who are trying to max out Weapon Mastery solo.

    New Balefire, Mourning Dale

    New Balefire, Mourning Dale
New World New Balefire location (map credits to mapgenie.io)

Over at Rahia Del Ojo Rojo east of Mourning Dale, you’ll find New Balefire where you’ll find Scorpius Elite Enemies which give out a ton of weapon XP. One of the best places to farm for weapon XP in a group of 3 other players or even solo. You can max out Weapon Mastery for multiple weapons on just one weapon XP boost.

    Genesis of Malevolence, Edengrove

New World Malevolence location (map credits to mapgenie.io)

Genesis of Malevolence has Level 62-66 enemies that make for ideal weapons XP farms. They can be found in Edengrove’s center. Head to Tor To-Riven which has an event that will spawn 3 bosses and a small army of Elite Enemies in a 6-minute cooldown. This area is a bit tough so if you’re planning to farm for weapon XP here, you’d best do it with a small group.

    Brightwood Isle, Brightwood

New World Brightwood Isle location (map credits to mapgenie.io)

To reach Brightwood Isle, head over to Lake Genevieve northeast of the Alchemist Shrine fast travel point in Brightwood and you’ll find Lost enemies around Level 34. Pull them and then use AoE attacks to eliminate them in groups. Rinse and repeat until you gain as much Weapon Mastery as you can. This location offers a reliable and chill way to farm for weapon XP which is perfect for solo players.

    Eastshore Pier, Restless Shore

New World Eastshore Pier location (map credits to mapgenie.io)

Eastshore Pier is Southeast of Restless Shore where you’ll find Level 42 Lost enemies which offer a good amount of weapon XP. You can gather as many of them together as you can before striking them down with AoE attacks. Keep repeating until you gain complete Weapon Mastery. Not really best tackled with a group since enemies can be a bit spread out so it’s a good place for solo players looking to farm weapon XP.

Pirate camps around Restless Shore are generally good for farming weapon XP. You’ll get about 750 to 900 weapon XP every time you clear a camp which can take around a minute or two to do. Restless Shore is a Level 45 zone so these pirate camps are easy to clear out for fast and cheap weapon XP.
