Nintendo has recently announced that recently released and overwhelmingly popular video game Pokemon Legends Arceus has now sold millions of copies in just a short time.
The official tally? Nintendo itself posted the big sales number on its Twitter account, boasting over 6.5 million copies sold worldwide. Most impressive of it all is this happened in within at least six days since release. The game launched last week on Friday, January 28, 2022 so it is six days and counting.
In Japan alone, the game has sold over 1.4 million copies in just two days since it appeared on retail shop shelves. This is now the second best-selling Nintendo Switch game launched in Japan. It is second only to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which launched in 2020.
The last two titles, Pokemon Sword and Shield gained 6 million sales in its first week of sale, which is just second to Arceus right now. It did garner over 23.9 million sales as of December 31, 2021.
Sirus Gaming resident reviewer was overall impressed with the game and has this to say. “Overall, Pokémon Legends Arceus is a great game. With a new concept being used for this Pokémon series, in my opinion, there might be a chance that this concept will be used for future Pokémon games.”
Pokemon Legends Arceus is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
