The Alchemist is a secret archetype you have to unlock in Remnant 2 that specializes in buffing allies and excels at playing as support. It’s not one of the starter archetypes, so you have to put in some work if you want to play as an Alchemist. Remnant 2 doesn’t really tell you how to unlock the Alchemist, so we made this guide that teaches you how.
How to unlock the Alchemist Archetype in Remnant 2?
You have to get the Mysterious Stone by defeating the Manticora, which will appear in front of massive sewer grates in one of the dark slums in Losomn, either in Morrow Parish or Ironborough. Then go to Wallace in Ward 13 to use this item to craft the Philosopher’s Stone which you can equip to unlock the Alchemist archetype.
Because of the procedural generation in Remnant 2, this can be a challenge. It’s also a random event so there’s guarantee it will happen on your playthrough. You’ll have to reroll until you get Losomn and hope you have either Morrow Parish or Ironborough locations. If not, you can complete Losomn so you can reroll in Adventure Mode without losing campaign progress. Most players find them in Morrow Parish but they can also be in Ironborough. Look for massive sewer grates just big enough to fit into with a large gap in the chains between. Depending on RNG, this could be rather time consuming.
The issue here is that Remnant 2 is procedurally generated. This means that the massive sewer grates you’re looking for in either Morrow Parish or Ironborough in Losomn have no exact pinpointed locations. There are multiple sewer grates that are on their brick walls. All you have to do is stand in front of one of them until a monster grabs you and drags you in.
Your character will then wake up on top of a bone pile and a fight against the Manticora will ensue. This isn’t a boss fight, but this enemy does hit hard. If you’re playing in multiplayer, your party members will have to get themselves killed first before they can join you in this location and help you fight it. After defeating the Manticora, you’ll get the Mysterious Stone.
The Mysterious Stone can then be taken to Wallace in Ward 13 who hangs around in the docks. Use this item to get the Philosopher’s Stone Engram for 1,000 Scrap and 10 Lumenite Crystals and then go to the Archetype tab in your menu to equip it for either your primary or secondary. This will let you play as the Alchemist.
The Alchemist archetype is a great support class. This makes it a good pick for your secondary archetype if you’re fond of playing the Medic. It provides powerful buffs to your allies making tougher fights trivial. You’ll have to equip it as your primary archetype if you want access to its Prime Perk, Spirited, that allows you to have multiple concoction buffs at once.
