Riot Games has now acquired the talented French animation studio Fortiche, the guys behind the famous League of Legends TV series Arcane.
According to Riot Games via Eurogamer, the acquisition is a “significant investment”, but did not share any other specifics, but it did make them hold two seats on Fortiche’s board.
The Paris-based animation company will stay as an independent one. In future projects though, it seems Riot Games will be making collaborations in the future and probably longer than that with the reception of Arcane that high when it aired recently.
Aside from a second season for Arcane, which was announced way back in November 2021, Fortiche and Riot Games revealed they are going to be collaborating on more projects in the future, but have not yet been announced officially yet. It is possible it will be related to League of Legends since Riot Games is involved.
“Fortiche has been an integral partner for a long time, but this agreement ensures we’ll be working closely for decades to come,” Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent said.
“We hold a high bar for everyone we work with and insist they understand players deeply and focus on them relentlessly, and from day one, Fortiche has exemplified Player Experience First. In working with Fortiche, we collaborate to push the boundaries of what’s possible and raise expectations for how games can be represented in media. As proud as we are of Arcane, we know the best is yet to come.”
