We just had our Gears of War 4 review published by one of our contributors, Marcus Villareal. The game has also received a lot of praises from major critics. We’ve covered news about how the local Philippine game development team, Synergy 88 Digital Inc., did a great job providing 3D environment assets for Gears 4 and for that, The Coalition praised them for a job well done.
At the Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) last Friday, we were in the Synergy 88 Digital Inc., press conference for their new mobile app only available on Android — Barangay Basketball — at around 2:00PM Philippine Time.
After the press conference, I had a chance to talk to Jackie Chua, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Synergy 88 Digital, and asked if they have another project ongoing related to Gears, and she said: “Gears 5 is around the corner….” but with a long pause, she gave that hesitant face and added “…but that’s what I’ve heard from the internet.” She never mentioned any “source” on where she got the information.
In Synergy 88 Digital Inc.’s press release about the success of Gears 4, Walter de Torres, The Coalition Director of Production, says, “I would like to thank Synergy88 Digital for their contribution in making the environments of Gears of War 4 come to life. Their quality was world class and they delivered when we needed them to. We look forward to collaborating with them on future projects.”
With Walter stating “We look forward to collaborate with them on future projects.” means Synergy 88 Digital Inc. will also be working on another project alongside The Coaltion. Chua might have possibly given us a little glimpse that Gears 5 will come out fairly soon, but this is too early for Microsoft and The Coalition to announce since Gears 4 has just been released.
If we get more information about a possible sequel for Gears 4, we’ll let you guys know!
