In Salt and Sacrifice classes are important to how you start the game as they determine your starting stats and the weapons you get. You’re going to need to pay attention to what class you select since you’re going to center your playstyle around it. Once you’ve selected you class, you cannot change this decision without starting a new game. We’ve created this guide for Salt and Sacrifice classes to help you learn which is for you.
All Salt and Sacrifice Classes
There are 8 Salt and Sacrifice classes in total you can choose from:
- Fighter
- Duelist
- Highblade
- Paladin
- Assassin
- Ranger
- Cleric
- Sage
Each class has its specialization. The class you pick in the beginning of the game will determine your playstyle so you need to pick the right class for you. We’ll explain all the Salt and Sacrifice classes and what they can do so you’ll get an idea which one to pick.

Fighter
The Fighter is a very straightforward class that is capable in both offense and defense. Fighters start out with the Knight’s Vanguard weapon which scales with strength and can block up to 100% damage making them quite viable from the beginning. The Fighter can use the Throwing Axe for ranged damage dealing. This class is great for those who want a beefy warrior who can get up close and personal with enemies.
The downside is that the Fighter is quite slow. This is due to the heavy equipment the Fighter starts with. If you can put more points into Endurance, you can mitigate this as it increase your max equipment load.

Duelist
The Duelist is a class that attacks quick and racks up damage quickly. Duelists are armed with the Steel Rapier that allows you to quickly get close to enemies and has a 55% block mitigation. Duelists are equipped with the Sturdy Crossbow for ranged damaged dealing. The Duelist is a great class for those who want to deal damage fast and want to be quick enough to get out of harm’s way.
The downside with the Duelist is that they don’t block easily which encourages dodging instead. It won’t be an issue if you prefer being light on your feet.

- Ranged: Sturdy Crossbow (B scaling in Luck and D scaling in Dexterity stats)

Highblade
The Highblade is a Samurai styled class that focuses on going on the offense. Highblades are armed with the Steel Highblade a katana that slices through opponents quickly and has a 75% block mitigation. Highblades use the Short Bow for ranged attacks. The Highblade is a good class for those who like to be quick but well rounded in their stats.
The downside to the Highblade class is they’re reliance on stamina. If you fail to properly invest in Will, you could easily lose fights.

Paladin
The Paladin is a slow tank that can take a lot of damage. If you like playing a tank, then the Paladin might be an attractive pick. Paladins are equipped with the Vanguard that has a 95% block mitigation but comes with a skill that temporarily increases damage resistance. Like the Fighter, they are armed with the Throwing Axe for ranged damage. Out of all the Salt and Sacrifices classes, Paladins are the most bulky.
The downside to the Paladin class is that they’re slow. They don’t have as much starting Endurance to carry those heavy equipment. Paladins also face a challenge when it comes to stamina upkeep and can find themselves depleted quickly during combat if you’re not careful.

- Melee: Vanguard (D scaling in Strength, E scaling in Conviction stats and a 95% block mitigation. Comes with a skill that increases damage resistance for a short time)
- Ranged: Throwing Axe (A scaling in Strength stat)

Assassin
The Assassin is a quick class and light on they’re feet that prioritizes quickly dealing damage. Assassins are armed with the Hunter’s Dagger that has allows for chaining fast strikes together with a 60% block mitigation. For ranged attacks, Assassins use the Throwing Knives. This class is great for players who like to deal a lot of damage in a short amount of time since their starting weapons scale heavily with the Dexterity stat when compared to other Salt and Sacrifice classes.
The downside to the Assassin is that they are glass cannons. Assassins can’t take too much damage before they’re put down.

Ranger
The Ranger is a well rounded class that excels in any fight. Rangers are armed with the Half Spear as a starting weapon capable of decently chaining attacks and has a block mitigation of 60%. For ranged attacks, Rangers use the Short Bow. This is a good class for those who want a well balanced fighter that can adapt quickly to the situation.
The downside is that the Ranger doesn’t have any specializations and don’t really shine in any position. Additionally Rangers don’t block attacks well encouraging dodging instead.

Cleric
The Cleric class is a good pick for those who want access to a range of support skills while still being able to deal damage. Clerics are initially equipped with the Rune Mace that bludgeons enemies with damage scaling from your Strength and Constitution stats. In addition the Rune Mace also comes with a skill that rejuvenates health for a time. For ranged damage, Clerics start with their Wooden Crossbow. Clerics are good for keeping yourself alive while focusing on melee attacks.
The downside is that the Cleric class isn’t an easy class to use early in the game. While they can start with a useful skill that restores their health, Clerics have a low defense making them rely on that skill too often.

Sage
The Sage is a class that blends casting and melee attacks together. The Sage class is initially equipped with the Stave that lets you fire three bolts that track targets down. For ranged attacks, the Sage comes equipped with the Channeling Rod that can fire elemental bolts. This class is a very good class to invest in as Sages become more powerful mid to late game.
The downside to picking the Sage class is that they’re very weak at the beginning. Sages don’t have much protection and can require some investments before they can wear more than just robes.
