Host Geoff Keighley has recently announced on Twitter Spaces (via VGC) that the upcoming Summer Game Fest 2022 will be more focused on already-announced games.
Keighley has quickly set up expectations for the upcoming showcase’s online audience so that they would not be that disappointed if their anticipated games did not get announced. While it is true that the upcoming Summer Game Fest will feature world premieres, trailers, and game updates from across the game industry. There is just one condition: it will almost have no new games to announce.
There will be a FEW new games to announce, no mistake, but that is just it. Keighley clarifies that most of the announcements will be games that have already been revealed. No big reveals on new games that are rumored, there will be surprises, but only very few.
Keighley revealed that Summer Game Fest will focus on games like The Callisto Protocol, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and Gotham Knights. He reiterates that the show is not The Game Awards, which means that the big announcements will be coming in December 2022 instead of Summer Game Fest. He did say that the event features exclusive games for Nintendo Switch and Xbox platforms, massive games, and independent titles.
The Summer Game Fest is expected to run less than two hours, but it could go more due to guest appearances. Keighley does expect more announcements in the weeks ahead like the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase 2022.
Summer Game Fest 2022 starts on June 9, 2022.
