Continue progressing through the story and the next objective for the side story will be updated. A new The Flame marker will appear on the northeast side of Williamsburg that points to some clues as to the cults’ next plans.

Disarm the bombs

You’ll then find cultists in a vacant lot, setting up bombs around it and blowing them up for the Crimson Hour. There are four bombs set up in the lot and you will have to disarm them one by one. These bombs are guarded by the cultists and you can’t just grab a bomb that is guarded without alerting all the enemies.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 The Flame: It Was Meant For Me - Take down the enemies stealthily

Take down the enemies stealthily first, then you can grab a bomb. To disarm a bomb, you need to perform a QTE properly; if you miss the timing, you’ll fail and the enemies will be alerted about it.

Defeat the cultists

After taking out all the enemies and disarming all bombs, Yuri will appear and try to take down the elite cultist that appears. This elite has flamethrowers on his arms and has a wide reach with its attacks. Try to take out the other enemies that are providing covering fire to make dealing with the elite much easier.

Defeat the remaining cultists

More backup will arrive with more brutes and elites. After clearing all of them, a sabotaged train will run down the tracks and hit the tankers to make them explode. Prepare to clear a QTE as Yuri throws charges at you to derail the train instead.

Once you have succeeded, you will be met with The Flame himself. He reveals that he was after the symbiote that was in the train all along. The Flame then leaves with the symbiote after setting fire to Peter. Yuri steps in and chooses to rescue Peter instead of pursuing The Flame, then sets off to continue chasing down the cult leader.

After clearing the mission, you will be rewarded with 3,000 XP, 8 Hero Tokens, and 400 Tech Parts. Being the last mission for The Flame side story, you will have also unlocked the Saving Lives Suit for Peter Parker.

Immediately after the end of the mission, Wraith calls Peter, telling him she needs time for herself, to look for The Flame. Wraith then mentions she’ll look into The Flame’s old aliases, which she lists Archie Abel, Walter Wachtman, and, the quite obvious, Cletus Cassidy. The first two names does not have any references to Spider-Man characters in the comic books or movies.

As we already know, if you took the chance to investigate the area with clues in the previous mission, you’ll notice a book that shows a red demon that almost symbolizes Venom; concluding that The Flame is the notorious Cletus Cassidy, who will eventually become the Carnage. Will we see Carnage in the sequel of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Or are we going to expect a story expansion that will feature Carnage the main villain? We’ll see.
