Kena: Bridge of Spirits Mechanic of Freeing Spirits Rewards Players with Proper Narrative

Canadian voice actor Tod Fennell recently talked with media outlet Newsweek about his character in upcoming video game Kena: Bridge of Spirits.

Fennell praises the game for its story telling, visuals, and emotions that he compares it to a Pixar movie. “It has a really comforting style,” he shared.

The voice actor is voicing Taro, one of the spirits that the players will face in the game as Kena. Fennell described the boss version of his character to be aggressive and comes from a place of anger. He notes that another voice actor did the voicing for that version. The one he plays though is the one that is injured and his pain comes from his youth. “… I made my voice a little more vulnerable,” he says.

Fennell then hints of what Taro’s arc is going to be since he could not divulge more details. “His pain comes from a place of grief, so I tapped into times when I myself had felt that emotion,” he revealed.

The voice actor then shared that when you play this game with the goal of freeing spirits in mind, players will be rewarded properly. It will not end in just like 10 seconds of cutscene, he stated that players will be going through the process of freeing the spirits with a proper narrative. They will know their stories of how they came to be.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is one of the game that many gamers are really looking forward too, us included, but we will just have to wait for September 21, 2021 to arrive. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PS5.
