Tomb Raider movie and TV series are currently being worked on by Amazon.
A new report has revealed that aside from the upcoming Tomb Raider game, there are new plans for a new film and TV series that will star the popular female action star and adventure Lara Croft. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the writer for the new Tomb Raider TV project is Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She is known for her work on Fleabag and Killing Eve, but she will not star in the adaptation, the report says.
The TV series is still in the development stages, says the report. Waller-Bridge will executive produce the show together with the former head of comedy and drama Ryan Andolina. Amanda Greenblatt, former head of overall deals, is also joining in too.
Dmitri M. Johnson will reportedly join together with his company, dj2 Entertainment. In the past, he wanted to adapt games like Life is Strange and Disco Elysium for Amazon.
Some sources have also told the media outlet that Johnson has now made a deal with Amazon to make a new film of Tomb Raider, which will be reboot.
It was revealed last year that MGM, the previous owner of the rights to Tomb Raider Films, has lost those rights after getting bought out by Amazon. Many reports revealed that the planned sequel to the 2018 film and Alicia Vikander, the actress who played Lara Croft, is no longer part of the project.
