The Root of Nightmares is a raid that is being released on the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion. We aren’t sure what it’s about just yet, but it does seem to involve our Guardians facing a menacing threat from outside the usual scope. Here are the details for when the Root of Nightmares raid will start and what rewards you can expect from it.

So when does the Destiny 2 Lightfall Root of Nightmares start and what rewards can you expect from partaking in the raid?

Destiny 2 Lightfall Root of Nightmares Raid Start Date & Time

The Root of Nightmares raid in Destiny 2 Lightfall will start on March 10, 2023 at 9 AM PST. For the first 48 hours of the raid, Contest Mode will be enabled.

Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep.

From the date given, it seems that the raid won’t be available until 10 days after the start of Destiny 2 Lightfall. So you should have ample time to prepare. Get your Fireteam together and prepare for whatever threat is looming ahead.

Bungie also reveals an extended Contest Mode. Previous raids only had 24 hours, but Root of Nightmares will have 48 instead. A leak from Ginsor claims that the raid take place inside The Witness’ terraformed ship which makes sense given the official description of being “ferried to an unknown time and place” to face an ancient threat at the doorstep.

Unfortunately there’s no mention of the rewards for Destiny 2 Lightfall Root of Nightmare rewards just yet. We suspect that it may involve a powerful exotic like previous raids but whether it’ll be something you think is worth getting is something we’ll have to wait and see for.

That’s the start date & time for the Destiny 2 Lightfall Root of Nightmares raid. We hope this article was informative.
