Iron Banner has come to Destiny 2 Season of the Deep. And Bungie has graced us with another great fusion rifle in the form of the Pressurized Precision. It is the first Strand fusion rifle in the game. And it does not disappoint. It also comes with the new perk Discord. So, how does the Pressurized Precision stack up against heavy hitters like the Glaciogasm and the Iterative Loop? Let’s find out.
The Pressurized Precision is an Adaptive Frame fusion rifle. While the frame itself isn’t as popular as compared to rapid-fire fusions, it is quite versatile in many situations. One of which is its ability to refund ammo while Discord is active. We’ll talk more about that combination later in the article.
How to get the Pressurized Precision in Destiny 2?
There is only one way to get the Pressurized Precision, and that’s to play round after round of Iron Banner. However, you cannot acquire random drops of the weapon or decrypt from engrams until you actually get the weapon from Lord Saladin’s rewards track. You can find the organizer of the Iron Banner event at the center of the Tower during the entirety of Iron Banner week.
Once you have the instance of the weapon in your inventory, you are able to focus craft it from Lord Saladin at the cost of:
- 1 Iron Engram
- 25 Legendary Shards
- 20,000 Glimmer
You can now farm for the god rolls in both PvP and PvE. Provided you have the resources to spare.
Best Pressurized Precision PvP God Roll
- 1st Column: Fluted Barrel
- 2nd Column: Accelerated Coils or Liquid Coils (Projection Fuse as an option)
- Range Masterwork
- Counterbalance Stock Mod
- Firmly Planted + Eye of the Storm (This is the roll you get from Lord Saladin. This perk combination is best suited for dueling situations where there is a chance of your Guardian receiving damage. And while It doesn’t take much for Eye of the Storm to activate, we advise not relying on Firmly Planted too much but sliding into corners works for weapons with charge time like fusion rifles.)
- Moving Target + Rangefinder (This perk combination is best suited for corner peeking. Simply aim down sights while charging and going out of cover. Rangefinder offers a host of neutral advances, even if the damage falloff nerfs go into effect, you’ll want this on your fusions. Best used with Liquid Coils.)
Pressurized Precision is great in PvP. Usually, Adaptive Frames sort of struggle against other players but this weapon has proven that it can delete Guardians at ranges that might seem surprising to most. The only drawback is the fact that it handles flinch rather poorly. Even with Eye of the Storm on, if you take sustained fire, you will most likely miss a critical bolt or two.
You’ll also want to run Rangefinder on this weapon if you can. The Rangefinder nerf is coming but it won’t affect fusions in the way that people would consider primary weapons losing damage over distance. You’ll want this roll for the aim assist cone buffs.
Best Pressurized Precision PvE God Roll
- 1st Column: Chambered Compensator
- 2nd Column: Liquid Coils
- Range Masterwork
- Major Spec Mod
- Discord + Cornered (This perk combination is best for ad clear. Cornered shortens your charge time when two or more enemies are within 15 meters of your location. Use this combo if you’re not used to fusion rifles in general.)
- Discord + High-Impact Reserves (This combination is all about that finishing blow against more powerful enemies. But it does require a bit of set-up, however, as you need to go lower in your magazine to get high-damage bolts.)
Discord is the clear winner in this category. Its unique ability to refund ammo on kills is simply amazing. You are almost a perpetual firing machine in the small window of time this perk is active. The best part is that you only need a single kill to activate the perk. We suggest running a heavy-hitting weapon like a 120 hand cannon or something similar.
It is possible to refund multiple shots if you manage to kill 3 or more ads in a single burst. Don’t be surprised if you receive 2-3 bolts back after firing the weapon in a dense pack of ads.
Unfortunately, Discord does not work with damage sources other than the fusion rifle. We expected to get ammo back through threadling explosions but it did work. All the kills have to come from the weapon itself.
How good is the Pressurized Precision Fusion Rifle?
All in all, the Pressurized Precision is a surprisingly good fusion rifle. It won’t rival the extreme ranges of Glaciogasm and it’s a toss-up in a head-to-head against a rapid-fire frame fusion, but it is a free event weapon that you farm just by completing matches of Iron Banner. No crazy raid runs with a raid team. No going into trials of Osiris.
If anything else, go for a PvE god roll of the weapon and go to town on a group of ads. It’s very satisfying to use. Plus, if the mission has Strand surges then you’ll really be able to go all out on the ad clear.
When it comes to stats, they’re basically all evenly spread. There’s nothing that quite stands out here. The same also applies to its perk pool. The exception is the new Discord perk.
These are the Pressurized Precision Base Stats before any perks are applied:
- Impact: 70
- Range: 40
- Stability: 42
- Handling: 35
- Reload Speed: 40
- Zoom: 15
- Charge Time: 660
- Magazine: 6
3rd column perks
- Air Assault
- Auto-Loading Holster
- Firmly Planted
- Moving Target
- Encore
- Perpetual Motion
- Discord
4th column perks
- High-Impact Reserves
- Rangefinder
- Eye of the Storm
- Vorpal Weapon
- Iron Gaze
- Cornered
- Hatchling
And that’s everything we have right now for the Destiny 2 fusion rifle, Pressurized Precision. All in all, not the most must-have fusion in all of Destiny 2 but if you happen to get a god roll, you might as well keep it until a better Strand fusion rifle comes along. We will continue playing around with the rolls and will update the article if necessary. Check back with us again soon. Till next time, good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.
