On February 22, 2022 Bungie has released the new Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion which is a big addition that adds a lot of new content and a lot of changes to the game. You’ll find that there is a new power cap in Destiny 2 and increasing your power level isn’t going to be clear cut.
Increasing your power level and understanding the new power caps can be confusing, so in this Destiny 2 guide we’ll break down and teach you all you need to know about Destiny 2 The Witch Queen how to increase power level fast.
What Power Level Do You Start With in Destiny 2 The Witch Queen?
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion will set your Power Level to 1350. This is the Power Level required to start the new campaign. From there, you’ll have to play the game to keep increasing your Power Level by participating in certain activities such as Nightfall or the new raids.
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Explaining The Power Caps
Destiny 2 The Witch Queen has three new power caps. And they each mean something different. If you want to learn how to increase your power level, then you need to know what the new power caps are in The Witch Queen.
Soft Cap
The Soft Cap for the Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion is 1500. What this means is that anything you do in Destiny 2 is guaranteed to help increase your power level. You can pick up blue drops from the ground or reap the rewards of any activity you participated in to increase your power level. But you can only do this until you reach the soft cap which is Power Level 1500.
Powerful Cap
The Powerful Cap for Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion is 1550. What does “Powerful Cap” mean and why is it different from the Soft Cap, you ask? What the Powerful Cap means is that between 1500 to 1550 the only way to increase your Power Level is reap the rewards from activities that grant you Powerful or Pinnacle gear.
If your goal is to be as practical as possible, then we advice that you save all powerful rewards until you hit the Soft Cap at 1500. The loot drops for powerful items are only limited once per week so you do not want to waste them especially when you’re still able to increase your Power Level from other rewards without any restrictions.
Pinnacle Cap
The Pinnacle Cap for Destiny 2 The Witch Queen expansion is 1560. There is only a 10 Power Level difference between the Powerful Cap. Once you’ve reached Power Level 1550 the only way to increase your Power Level is via reaping the rewards from activities that grant you Pinnacle items. This is even more restricted than the Powerful Cap.
Like Powerful rewards, Pinnacles are limited once per week. So you do not want to start collecting them until you reach Power Level 1550. Though if you aren’t going to reach Power Level 1550 by the end of the week, there isn’t really a point into saving those Pinnacles. You’re better off using all Powerful rewards on your character first before you find activities that give you Pinnacles.
How to Push Power Level Past Power Caps in Destiny 2?
You can push your power level past the power caps by collecting Seasonal Artifacts in Destiny 2 The Witch Queen. While the Pinnacle power cap rests at 1560 with no way to go beyond it, you can collect these Seasonal artifacts which give you an extra boost beyond what your gear allows you.
Unlike gear, Seasonal Artifacts do not have their limits. You can level them up by garnering XP via hunting bounties, killing enemies, and participating in any other activities in Destiny 2. The caveat to getting Seasonal Artifacts is that your progress won’t be carried over to the next season.
