There are a total of 126 Inhibitors in Dying Light 2. You can find Inhibitors inside GRE Containers. Containers will usually have 2 Inhibitors which you can use to either upgrade your health or stamina. However some GRE Containers in certain locations have more or less Inhibitors than the usual.

Dying Light 2 GRE Container Locations – How to find Inhibitors
When exploring The City in Dying Light 2, you’ll get a notification that there is a “GRE container detected.” This is your indication that one is nearby. Using your Survivor Sense unfortunately doesn’t detect these containers and you have to be near them to get the marker indicating where they are.
After some time into the game, one of the Peacekeepers will give you a Nightrunner tool. The GRE Detector will reveal the container locations once you’ve activated Radio Towers per region. In the meanwhile, here are all the locations of GRE containers for your convenience!
All GRE Container Locations in Dying Light 2
Here are all the GRE locations arranged per district.
Trinity GRE Containers
GRE Container – South of Trinity, Left of Larch Windmill
There is a GRE container containing 2 inhibitors. You can find it on the rooftops inside one of the open windows.
GRE Container – North of Trinity, North of Alder Windmill
In Into The Dark main story mission, you’ll be faced with a boss fight. The GRE container is in the room where the boss fight takes place. You won’t be able to enter this room until you pass the subways guarded by the Peacekeepers. This is a story related GRE container and depending if you sided with the Bazaar residents or Peacekeepers you may not be able to get it.
GRE Container – Northwest of Trinity, Rooftop of Large Building
On the northwest of Trinity, you’ll have to scale a large building to be able to get to the military supply drop that contains the Inhibitors. You may need to upgrade your parkour and stamina before attempting this. I had to make use of the Wall Run skill to get around.
GRE Container – North of Trinity
There is a GRE Container on the northside of the region. It is hidden behind the wall in one of the buildings. The entrance is in the window at the rooftops. There is a vent on the room you can climb in.
GRE Container – Southeast of Trinity, GRE Anomaly C-A-05
Defeat the GRE Anomaly to get to the GRE container.
GRE Container – Northeast of Trinity, Inside Dark Zone
Near the intersection of Trinity and Horseshoe is a Dark Zone you can enter. You’ll find the GRE container inside.
Houndfield GRE Containers
GRE Container – East of Houndfield
There is a GRE container inside of the Nightrunner’s Hideout east of Houndfield. You can find this hideout north of the Cherry Windmill. The container is inside a safe lock.
The code to the safe can be found in the bedroom beyond the cabinet you have to push out the way. The code is 1-0-1 to open the safe. The container holds 1 Inhibitor instead of the standard two.
GRE Container – East Houndfield, Inside Center for Stage IV THV Study
You’ll have to use the GRE key to enter the tent above the building. You’ll have to be very careful because there is a powerful infected guarding the GRE container during daytime which will kill you in a few hits. My best advice is to wait until night time to come back and take it. There are 3 GRE containers inside.
GRE Container – South of Houndfield, GRE Anomaly C-A-22
You’ll have to fight the GRE Anomaly first before acquiring the GRE Container as a reward. Be careful, these anomalies are no joke. These can fly around and hit you from a distance while sending the zombie grunts to keep you busy.
GRE Container – Metro Hayward Square, Center of Houndfield
Not really a container, but an Inhibitor is sitting at the desk after you’ve liberated the metro station.
GRE Container – North of Houndfield, Inside Military Container
It’s in the north of the region. You’ll have to use your GRE key to gain access to it. It’s near the location where you go to for The Ball is in Your Court quest.
GRE Container – Northeast of Houndfield, West of Landmark
You can find a GRE Container meters west from the landmark at the edge of Houndfield.
GRE Container – South of Houndfield
Towards the east of the Electrical station in the region, you can find the GRE Container inside the water. You’ll have to dive down.
Horseshoe GRE Containers
GRE Container – East of Horseshoe, Inside Tango Motel
During The Raid main story mission, you can go inside the Tango Motel where you’ll find a GRE container on the upper floors, inside a room at the end of a hallway. This room will be right before a cutscene.
GRE Container – South of Horseshoe, Inside Horseshoe Tower
In the Water Tower main story mission, you’ll be tasked to climbing the Horseshoe Tower. The GRE container is up above inside a room with explosive barrels.
GRE Container – Southeast of Horseshoe, Inside THV Genomics Center
You’ll have to climb to the top and use the GRE key to open the door. Drop down and explore the building. There are 3 GRE containers inside locked rooms you have to picklock.
GRE Container – West of Horseshoe, Inside the Attic
In the mission, The Only Way Out, you and Hakon will be looking for the girl, Maya, who took the brass knuckles belonging to a Peacekeeper. The GRE Container is in the attic.
Quarry End GRE Containers
GRE Container – Northwest of Quarry End, Subway at the Intersection Between Houndfield and Quarry End
There is a GRE container inside the underground subway besides the river near the monument of the massacre. It is protected by infected.
GRE Container – Center of Quarry End, GRE Anomaly C-A-01
You’ll have to come at night and defeat the GRE Anomaly residing in the location. Be careful GRE Anomaly C-A-01 can fly around and attacks you at range while the grunts keep you at bay. After defeating the anomaly, you can secure the GRE container.
Downtown GRE Containers
GRE Container – Center of Downtown, Under the Metro Downtown Court
You’ll be able to find the GRE container before you emerge from the subway shortly after getting into Downtown district of The City. This is right after finishing Let’s Waltz! main story mission.
GRE Container – Northeast of Downtown, Third Floor of the Downtown Electrical Station
During A Place to Call Home story quest, you’ll be asked to get into the Electrical Station in Downtown to divert power either to the Survivors or the Peacekeepers. On the third floor just before choosing to direct the power is the GRE container.
GRE Container – Middle of Downtown, GRE Anomaly C-A-79
Defeat the Anomaly to get to the GRE container.
GRE Container – Center of Downtown, GRE Vaccine Lab
In the middle of downtown just east of the Downtown Court, there will be a GRE Lab at the rooftop of the building. Inside are 3 GRE containers. Make sure to head there at night as powerful infected are guarding it during the day.
GRE Container – East of Downtown, Across Bandit Camp
Before you cross the main bridge into the camp, there is a GRE container below on the third floor of the preceding building, Downtown Hall.
GRE Container – East of Downtown, Northwest of Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp and East of Nightrunner Trial VI
There is a GRE container with a single Inhibitor at the sides of the building. It’s in a box near the yellow City Space sign. You’ll have to drop down to here from a higher building.
GRE Container – East of Downtown, On Top of Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp, Military Airdrop THB-1L0
You’re going to have to do some platforming to reach this area. It’s at the top of the large building. The Inhibitor is in the Military Airdrop above the Office Tower.
GRE Container – East of Downtown Inside Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp
The Inhibitor is in the safe lock above the bandit camp. You’ll have to maneuver around the side of the camp right where there are platforms you can use to climb to the upper floors. The safe isn’t on the roof but is in one of the rooms you can’t access normally unless you platform. The code to the safe is 3-1-3. There is a hole you can enter to the upper left and the artifact noting the code is on the coffee table.
GRE Container – South of Downtown
During the main quest The Shoe, you will enter a condo you wouldn’t be able to before. You can’t enter this room and get the GRE Container until this mission. The GRE Container can be seen inside the bedroom. This container holds 3 Inhibitors.
New Dawn GRE Containers
GRE Container – North of New Dawn Park, Top Floor of a Building
It’s near the Fish Eye Canteen settlement. It’s the building with a red fence balcony. You may have to use the elevator to free run your way to the top floor unless you have the Wall Running skill.
GRE Container – Intersection of Downtown and New Dawn Park
In the Orders story mission, there is a GRE container located at the top of the building you’re supposed to meet a Peacekeeper lieutenant to deliver a message. After the cutscene don’t head out the door and turn around. You’ll see the GRE container.
GRE Container – Metro Newalls Crossing
You will be rewarded with an Inhibitor after completing the Metro Newalls Crossing for fast travel. It’s in the bathroom in front of where you spawn right after you complete the activity.
The Wharf GRE Containers
GRE Container – South of The Wharf, Inside GRE Experimental Research
You’ll have to go to the top of the building. You can use your paraglide to get across from the building with the Nightrunner’s Hideout in the New Dawn Park area. There are 3 GRE containers inside.
GRE Container – Metro Waterside
After completing the Metro Waterside subway, you’ll find a GRE container to your left on the cabinet above the microwave.
GRE Container – West of The Wharf, Inside North Loop Radio Tower, South of Metro Waterside
You’ll need the grappling hook to reach this GRE Container. It’s behind one of the rooms near the bottom of the tower.
GRE Container – Northwest of the Wharf, GRE Anomaly C-A-83
You’ll have to fight the GRE Anomaly in the area to be able to get to the GRE Container.
Garrison GRE Containers
GRE Container – South of Garrison, Garrison Electrical Station
At the Facility to the south of the region lies a GRE container. You don’t need to complete the puzzle to get to it but you need to open the C door. This time, the container is a safe lock and not a big box.
The safe code can be found in the box next to it. It’s an artifact item. “The approximate number of pi…” The code is 3-1-4 to open it. This container only holds 1 Inhibitor instead of the standard 2.
GRE Container – Northwest of Garrison, GRE Anomaly C-A-78
To get the GRE container, you’ll have to beat the anomaly who only appears here at night.
GRE Container – Center of Garrison, GRE Anomaly C-A-55
Defeat the GRE Anomaly at night to get the Inhibitors.
GRE Container, Center of Garrison, West of GRE Anomaly C-A-55, Inside Green Military Building
You can find a GRE Container with a single Inhibitor inside the military building right behind the tank. You’ll have to use the GRE key to open it.
GRE Container – West of Garrison, Inside Metro VNC Tower
After defeating the Renegades inside and unlocking the subway as a fast travel location, you can find the Inhibitor next to the bed.
GRE Container – Northwest of Garrison, Inside Dark Hollow Loot Source
Be careful, this dark zone is a chemical area! This means that your immunity will go down rapidly while searching for the GRE container at night. Thankfully there are only a few zombies inside to compensate. But there is still a Hard lock to pick before reaching the container.
GRE Container – Center of Garrison, on top of the Right VNC Tower
You won’t be able to get here until thee main story quest, Broadcast. You will eventually encounter the container shortly after gaining the grappling hook Nightrunner tool. The GRE container will be at the top of the smaller tower to the right and will have 3 Inhibitors instead of the usual 2.
GRE Container – Center of Garrison on top of the Left VNC Tower, Under the Safe Zone
Just before you turn on the antenna for Jack Matt in Broadcast main story quest, paraglide down to a terrace at the opposite side. There is a Safe Zone you can activate there. Face right and head to the edge. You’ll have to use the grappling hook to head down to the floor below. There is a hidden room that can only be reached from that point.
GRE Container – South of Garrison, Military Airdrop THB-NW4
You’ll have to climb the building using air vents. The military airdrop above has Inhibitors.
GRE Container – Southwest of Garrison, Military Airdrop THB-UT0
There are Inhibitors inside the military airdrop which you can find on the roof of a building near the VNC Tower just southwest of it.
Muddy Grounds GRE Containers
GRE Container – Southeast of Muddy Grounds, Metro King Williams Station
Head into the Metro Station and fight off the Renegades inside. After restoring the power to the subway, an Inhibitor can be found on your left to the table.
Lower Dam Ayre GRE Containers
GRE Container – Northwest of Lower Dam Ayre, Under the Bridge Intersecting Muddy Grounds
The GRE Container is underwater underneath the bridge connecting the Muddy Grounds and Lower Dam Ayre. Technically the Inhibitors are in the Lower Dam Ayre region. It’s near the Metro King William Bridge fast travel station.
GRE Container – Northwest of Lower Dam Ayre, Under the Bridge Connecting Muddy Grounds and Saint Paul Island
Technically part of the Lower Dam Ayre region. The GRE Container can be found underwater in the center of the bridge.
GRE Container – West of Lower Dam Ayre, GRE Anomaly C-A-34
Defeat the GRE Anomaly to acquire the Inhibitors as a reward.
GRE Container – West of Lower Dam Ayre, THV Advanced Care
You can find 3 GRE containers inside the quarantine building. It will have four Inhibitors.
GRE Container – Southwest of Lower Dam Ayre, Metro South Loop
You’ll have to fight against the Renegades occupying the station and turn the power back on. You’ll find the Inhibitor next to the microwave.
GRE Container – East of Lower Dam Ayre, GRE Anomaly C-A-23
At the very eastern edge of Lower Dam Ayre lie GRE Anomaly C-A-23. Defeat it to get to the GRE Container housing the Inhibitors.
GRE Container – Northwest of Lower Dam Ayre, North of South Loop Radio Tower
You’ll have to get to the roof of the building to get to the GRE Container. You’re going to need the Paraglider and Grappling Hook to make the journey easier.
GRE Container – Center North of Lower Dam Ayre, Military Airdrop THB-4UL
Near the landmark and west of the windmill in the center north of Lower Dam Ayre, you can find Military Airdrop THB-4UL which contains Inhibitors at the top of the church.
GRE Container – Southeast of Lower Dam Ayre, Heron Renegados Bandit Camp
After liberating the bandit camp to the southeast of the region, go to the courtyard and pick up the Inhibitor.
Saint Paul Island GRE Containers
GRE Container – Center of Saint Paul Island, Inside Cathedral
You won’t be able to access this until the Cathedral story quest. The GRE container is inside at the top of the chapel on a platform difficult to reach.
GRE Container – Center of Saint Paul Island, Inside Metro Cathedral
After unlocking the Metro Station for fast travel, you can find the Inhibitor underneath the microwave.
GRE Container – North of Saint Paul Island, THV-Gen Mod Development Center
Another quarantine zone you’ll have to dive into to get the GRE containers dwelling inside.
GRE Container – Center of Saint Paul Island, GRE Anomaly C-A-91
Defeat the GRE Anomaly at night to get to the GRE Containers.
GRE Container – Northeast of Saint Paul Island, Saint Paul Electrical Station
The GRE Container can be found underwater inside the B section of the electrical station facility.
GRE Container – East of Saint Paul Island, Military Airdrop THB-1N4
The military airdrop can be found at the top floor of Saint Thomas church. The Inhibitor is located in a safe a bit above the military airdrop. The code is 444 to unlock. You can find the code by climbing up further and opening a box.
Newfound Lost Lands GRE Containers
GRE Container – North of Newfound Lost Lands, GRE Anomaly C-A-56
As always you’ll have to defeat the GRE Anomaly to get the GRE Containers housing the Inhibitors you want.
GRE Container – Southwest of Newfound Lost Lands, Newfound Land Military Relay
You’ll be able to get to this GRE Container by going to the military relay base of the region. You’ll have to access this location during the Wall of Valor: Lost Transmission side quest. You can find it near the dead body of an NPC.
GRE Container – Southwest of Newfound Lost Lands, Below Water
Just east of the Newfound Land Military Relay you can find a GRE Container sitting underwater. Dive in.
GRE Container – Center of Newfound Lost Lands, Center of Sunk Military Airdrops
You can find the GRE Container at the base of a statue residing in the center of the sunk Military Airdrops around the area.
GRE Container – Center of Newfound Lost Lands, Underwater of the Bridge
You’ll have to dive down again, this time underneath a bridge just near the Renegade territory. You’ll find this bridge north of the sunken military airdrops.
GRE Container – Center of Newfound Lost Lands, Underwater Near Sunken Car
Under the very same bridge you found the GRE Container above, go west and you can find another one in the waters next to a sunken car.
Beyond the Map GRE Containers
These GRE Containers can be found out-of-bounds from the regions displayed in your map.
GRE Container – Beyond West of Garrison, Inside the River
During on your way to the Observatory main story quest, you’ll find Inhibitors inside the water.
GRE Container – Beyond Southwest of Garrison, GRE-Anomaly C-A-67
There is a GRE Anomaly to the southwest of Garrison beyond the region and across the waters. It is near the Observatory which is a chemical wasteland.
