Gift for a Gardener is one of the optional side quests in Nightingale where an offering must be given to the Automaton Bishop in exchange for a Portal Stabiliser part. This is the third part of the quest chain for the peaceful route in obtaining the Automaton Charm Oil for the Gateway to The Watch quest, and it is the quest required in unlocking The Doctor is Out Achievement. Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to complete the Gift for a Gardener quest in Nightingale.
How to unlock the “Gift for a Gardener” quest
The Gift for a Gardener quest becomes available shortly after completing the How Automatons Tick quest from Victor Frankenstein. Victor Frankenstein can be found on his tower within the Desert Astrolabe realm. Partaking in this quest is optional, but completing it will give out additional rewards, plus it unlocks The Doctor is Out Achievement.
Arrange a suitable gift for the Automaton Bishop
Upon talking to Victor and handing over the items for the previous quest, you will unlock the Ritual Seed Nursery recipe.
Craft the Ritual Seed Nursery through a Workbench using the following materials:
- x2 Gem
- x1 Chamomile Seeds
- x1 Glass
Choose any kind of gem for this recipe, preferably a low tier one. Chamomile Seeds can be obtained from the Forest and Swamp realms.
Once you have the Ritual Seed Nursery, it’s time to look for an Automaton Bishop. Before approaching one, make sure to disarm your companion first to prevent them from attacking the Bishop.
As you approach a Bishop, it will project a receptacle where you can place the Ritual Seed Nursery as an offering. Doing so will make the Bishop drop the Automaton Charm Oil; pick the oil up to complete the quest.
Completing the quest will also reward you with the following:
- x1 Charm (Charm of Fatigue)
- x1 Unlock Euclid’s Lamppost
- x1 Utopia Card
- x1 Moderate Purifying Potion
- x3 Liquid Metal (Copper)
- x6 Lens (Crown Glass)
The Automaton Charm Oil can then be handed over to Nellie Bly to fulfill the objective for the Gateway to The Watch quest.
