How to Complete Planetside in No Man’s Sky Expedition 8: Polestar

Planetside is one of the first milestone objectives in No Man’s Sky’s newest Expedition 8: Polestar. Since this expedition focuses more on the freighter as the primary mode of transport, players will find themselves starting in their own freighter this time, unlike in previous expeditions where players woke up after crash landing on a planet.

In this guide, we’ll talk about how to complete the No Man’s Sky Planetside objective in Expedition 8: Polestar.

How to Complete the Planetside objective for Expedition 8: Polestar

The Planetside objective is the third objective in the first phase of Expedition 8 and it requires players to land on a planet. Since you’ll start the expedition in a freighter this time, you will have to prepare yourself and your starship for the journey ahead. To do this, you will have to complete the first two objectives first as it will reward you with the necessary items for the trip.

    Log 1: Emergency

    Complete Log 1: Emergency

For the first objective, speak to the freighter’s captain at the bridge and select the option Access ship’s log. You will then get the status of the ship and what parts of it need to be repaired. After reading through the dialogue, you’ll then complete the first objective and you’ll be rewarded with the following items:

    • x2 Starship Inventory Slot
    • x1 Salvaged Frigate Module
    • x2 Wiring Loom
    • x1 Cargo Bulkhead
    • x1 Purple paint freighter customisation
    All Hands on Deck

    Complete All Hands on Deck

For the next objective, access your inventory and go to the Freighter tab. You’ll see that there are three broken modules that needs repairing, but you will only have to focus on one module for now which is the Atmospheric Control Unit.

To repair this module, you’ll need:

    • x60 Chromatic Metal
    • x30 Gold
    • x1 Wiring Loom

Thankfully, the frigate already has more than enough of these items in its inventory, so all you need to do is to continue with the repairs and you’ll complete this objective. You’ll then receive the following rewards:

    • x2 Antimatter
    • x3 Starship Launch Fuel
    • x2 Repair Kit
    This is fine.

Pilot your Starship and Land on a Planet

The final step is to pilot your starship and head to the nearest planet. Go to your freighter’s hangar and ride inside your starship. Then, fly to the nearest planet and land on it. As soon as you step out of your starship, you will complete the Planetside objective and you will be rewarded with the following items:

    • Refiner Room plans
    • x210 Oxygen
    • Banned Hazard Protection Upgrade
    • Powerful Mining Beam Upgrade
Don’t forget to claim the rewards

    Planetside Note:

    • Technically, you can complete the Planetside objective without doing the first two objectives since your starship is already fixed and it has enough launch fuel to reach the planet. However, it is in your best interest to complete them anyway since they offer rewards that can help you upgrade your starship and be able to do the other objectives for the phase.
    • Don’t forget to claim the rewards within the Expedition tab whenever you complete an objective.
