Silent Hill 2 Remake To Be Faithful to Original Story

Bloober Team has confirmed that the upcoming video game Silent Hill 2 Remake will remain faithful to the original story.

Bloober Team Marketing Chief Anna Jasińska stated in an interview with media outlet DreadXP that the upcoming remake will faithfully follow the original story. She was asked if Konami gave the team free rein to transform it with its own vision. Here’s her answer:

“We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized Silent Hill 2. Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us ‘missing the point’ while we’re livening up the title. We faithfully stick to the traditional story canon while remaking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up.”

One of the visible changes in the remake is the over-the-shoulder camera. This has now altered the perspective of a few iconic set pieces, but it also meant that the combat system had been overhauled for the better.

Jasińska assured that they are not straying away from the original concept. They have their own ideas on how to make certain scare factors more appealing to today’s audience since the old scenes were not. It appealed more to the older audience who grew up with the original game.

When it comes to changes, Jasińska says the team is going to take a very safe approach. The changes they are going to make are in areas that really need modernization due to the passage of time.

In a previous article, it was revealed that the remake will not be a copycat of the original game. This new piece confirms it as it says the story will be followed to a tee while game mechanics and some areas will be tweaked and improved for modernization only.

There is no release date yet on the Silent Hill 2 Remake, but it will still be on PC and PS5.
