    Starfield Ship Builder Interior Explained

You can make your ship your de facto home in Starfield by using the Ship Builder to customize its interior. With this, you can add your own personal touch to your ship, which will make it feel more like home. Read on, and this guide will teach you how to use the Ship Builder feature to customize your interior in Starfield.

How to Customize Ship Interior in Starfield

You need to change your ship’s habitat modules in order to customize the interior of your ship. This can be done by accessing the Ship Builder menu and installing available HAB modules. After installing the module, your ship’s interior design will be different.

To access the Ship Builder menu, you can build your very own Landing Pad that comes with a Shipbuilder on your Outpost in Starfield. Since this will cost you resources, you’ll have to travel to different settlements until you get enough to build your own.

Each HAB module offers distinctive features apart from each other and has different variants. You’re able to browse through the variants of each habitat module by cycling through them with the left and right buttons of your D-pad. This gives you different options to customize the aesthetics of each interior on your ship.

How to Get HAB Modules in Starfield

HAB Modules are sold by different vendors throughout the galaxy. You can usually buy them from Ship Services Technicians but there are other sellers. Vendors who sell habitat modules typically sell ones that are unique to the inventory.

There are 16 ship HAB Modules that can add different stations to your ship. They can be different from each other, depending on the manufacturer. Here are the ship HAB Module types you can get:

    • All-in-One Berth
    • Armory
    • Battle Station
    • Brig
    • Captain’s Quarters
    • Cargo Hall
    • Computer Core
    • Control Station
    • Engineering Bay
    • Infirmary
    • Living Quarters
    • Mess Hall
    • Science Lab
    • Workshop

How to Decorate Ship Interior in Starfield

You can decorate your ship interior by dropping items from your inventory and dragging them to where you want to display them. You’re able to add any decorations you want on your ship this way.

If you want to display something on your ship’s interior, here’s how you do it:

    • Go to your inventory
    • Drop the item you want to display
    • Press and hold the A button on your controller or E on a keyboard to grab that item
    • Move your camera around to drag that item
    • Rotate the item with the LT and RT buttons or left-click and right-click
    • Press A or E again to drop it anywhere.

The items you’ve dropped on your ship interior will be transported back to your inventory should you change Home Ships. If you have a new ship, you’ll have to decorate it by dropping your items and dragging them around again.

How to Save Interior Changes in Starfield

You’ll have to save your game either manually or by using the autosave features to keep the changes you’ve made. Once you’ve loaded back into Starfield, the interior changes you’ve made should remain.

However this is Bethesda and there is a small chance that the decorations you’ve dropped on your ship to display may disappear. This is because Starfield couldn’t properly load up the assets when you launch the game. You should try reloading if this happens.
