Gustafa is one of the marriage candidates in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life that you can romance and raise a child with. This musician isn’t one to take things seriously, enjoying the finer things in life like simply dancing to the beat of his own tune and going wherever his own feet take him. If you want to be his muse and get him to settle down with you, you’re going to need to know how to romance Gustafa.

How to Romance Gustafa
You can romance Gustafa in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life by giving him gifts he likes and witnessing his Heart Events. Doing these will raise his Heart Level, which when high enough, allows you to marry him by the end of Year One.
Triggering all of Gustafa’s Heart Events isn’t necessary to romance him, but you will need at least 8 Heart Levels before he’ll agree to marry you. By Day 10 of Spring, you’ll automatically receive a Blue Feather which you can use to propose to Gustafa. If you don’t propose to him, you’ll be given a list of marriage candidates at the end of Chapter 1 where you can pick Gustafa if your Heart Level with him is high enough. You won’t be able to marry Gustafa if your Heart Level is too low.
To keep track of how much Gustafa likes you, bring up the Resident Info menu or read his diary which you can find the sofa at his place. The Heart Levels show how much a character likes you. You’ll have until the end of Year One to bring up Gustafa’s Heart Level to 8 before you’re forced to marry someone or leave Forgotten Valley.
Gustafa Schedule
Pay attention to Gustafa’s schedule as this will show when he’s available to interact with. This wandering minstrel is one of the late risers and he’ll be out of bed by 10 AM. At 10:30 AM, he’ll go to the woods behind Lei-Over Inn where he’ll relax around until 12:30 PM.
You can find Gustafa going to the Forest path by 4 PM where he’ll play music around the spring until 6 PM. Once he’s done, Gustafa will go home at 9 PM but he won’t go to sleep until 12 PM midnight.
Gustafa’s schedule changes on rainy days where he’ll just stay inside his home. He’s one of the more easier bachelors and bachelorettes to find because of how infrequent he wanders around.
Gustafa Heart Events
You have until Day 10 of Winter to witness all of Gustafa’s Heart Events. These can be triggered under the right conditions and will help you get closer to Gustafa by picking the right dialogue options.
Here are how to trigger all of Gustafa’s Heart Events:
Gustafa Heart Event 1
- Time: 6 AM to 4 PM
- Location: Outside your farmhouse
- Requirement: 2 Heart Levels
Exit your house and you’ll find Gustafa playing his guitar. He asks if you have some time to chat. Agree and he’ll talk about the weather and how nice it is. Agree with him once more and he’ll be glad that you’re a kindred spirit. He’ll ask if you want to listen to his song, tell him you’ll go all the way to raise his affection with you.
Gustafa Heart Event 2
- Time: 9 AM to 2 PM
- Location: Gustafa’s House
- Requirement: 4 Heart Events
Gustafa greets you in his home and asks if you want to play. Agree to it and agree to have a casual conversation with him. He’ll ask you if it’s nice to relax at home, tell him you love it and he’ll offer to play a song for you. Respond with “Music to my ears!” and you’ll earn extra affection with him.
Gustafa Heart Event 3
- Time: 6 AM to 4 PM
- Location: Outside your farmhouse
- Requirement: 6 Heart Levels
To trigger this Heart Event, you’ll need to have witnessed the previous ones. After exiting your house, Gustafa will ask if you want to accompany him for a walk. Tell him you’re good for it and he’ll talk about how relaxing the waterfall is. Tell Gustafa you agree with him and then listen to the song he’ll play next.
Gustafa Heart Event 4
- Time: 7 PM to 12 AM
- Location: Lei-Over Inn
- Requirement: 8 Heart Levels
It can be hard to find the time to give Gustafa gifts since he won’t accept any when he’s sitting down, which is most of the time. You’ll have to come back when he’s moving around to give him his favorite gifts so you can romance Gustafa.
The best gifts for Gustafa are easy to get wildflowers like Toy Flowers, Trickblue, Upseed, and etc. However you can also gift him Milk and Peaches that are of high qualities if you want to grow his Heart Level fast.
You can give Gustafa as many gifts as you want however you can’t give him the same type of gift twice. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow if you have two Milk, for example, that you want to give to him. By giving Gordy the right set of gifts, you can raise his Heart Level fast and be on the road to marrying him and raising a child with him.
