The DioField Chronicle Chapter 1: A Way of Life is the beginning of your journey. Everything about the basics of the game will be taught in this chapter. But just because you’ve taken your first baby steps into the world of DioField Chronicle, doesn’t mean things are going to be a walk in the park. The DioField Chronicle Chapter 1 has a few missions that may throw a curveball to your progress.

The DioField Chronicle Chapter 1 Complete Guide

Chapter 1: A Way of Life takes the opportunity for world building in The DioField Chronicle. Being the first chapter, you most likely won’t know what’s going on until the game opens up on what is happening to the world.

The moment you start a new game, you’ll be introduced to a prologue cutscene of a horse carriage being chased by armored men on horses. It isn’t long before our heroes make an entrance and you’re suddenly thrust into a battle despite not knowing what’s going on.

This will be the DioField Chronicle’s prologue that will teach you the basic mechanics of its real time strategic gameplay. The tutorial is fairly simple and all you have to do is follow what the tutorial pop-ups say to learn the combat mechanics.

All Recruitable Characters in Chapter 1

Here are all the characters you can recruit in The DioField Chronicle Chapter 1:

    • Andrias Rhondarson: Unlocked from the beginning. (Soldier)
    • Fredret Lester: Unlocked from the beginning. (Cavalier)
    • Izelair Wigan: Unlocked from the beginning. (Soldier)
    • Iscarion Colchester: Complete End of the Bandit Menace. (Sharpshooter)
    • Waltaquin Redditch: Complete Redditch Estate Recon. (Magicker)

There are no missable characters in Chapter 1. You’ll automatically recruit Iscarion and Waltaquin after finishing the respective main story quests. Andrias, Fredret, and Izelair are unlocked from the beginning and will join your party after finishing the prologue.

Here’s our How to Recruit All Characters in The DioField Chronicle guide if you’re worried about missing a single recruitable character throughout the whole game. Recruiting every character is actually required for the Bolstered Force Silver Trophy. Our The DioField Chronicle Trophy Guide & How to get Platinum will tell you more.

Chapter 1: A Way of Life All Quests Walkthrough

Here is every quest both main and optional you can take on in Chapter 1 of The DioField Chronicle:

    Main Quest: Prologue Mission

    • Clear Rescue Mission battle. (Recommended Level: 5)
    • Notable Rewards: Andrias, Fredret, and Izelair joins your army. Mercenary Unit 1 and Main Quest feature unlocked.

    Main Quest: An Anxious Archer

    • After chatting with Loraine, Mercenary Unit Rank will unlock. Open your map and visit the Shop. DLC weapons you own can be claimed by opening the blue chest nearby.
    • Take the time to buy weapons for your army. New weapons give you access to new active skills. We recommend Steel Lance for Fredret, the Cutlass for Andrias, and Bronze Sword for Izelair.
    • Buy HP potions. Always best to take at least 2 HP potions before any battle. Don’t forget to equip them to usable items.
    • Go to Izelair in the central area and then speak to Fredret inside the small room. When you’re ready, you can talk to Lorraine which will begin the combat.
    • Clear End the Bandit Menace (Recommended Level: 6)
    • Notable Rewards: Iscarion joins your army. Mercenary Unit Rank 2 unlocked.

    Main Quest: The Noble’s Arrival

    • Go to Izelair in the newly unlocked Institute.
    • Use the Institute facility to improve class skills. We recommend prioritizing Shield Bash and Shield Wall for Soldiers, Fantail Formation for Sharpshooters, and Mounted Charge for Cavaliers.
    • Talk to Izelair then go to Lorraine who is in the mission room to start combat.
    • Clear Redditch Estate Recon. (Recommended Level: 7)
    • Return to Elm Camp to get Waltaquin to join your army.
    • Sub quests are now unlocked.

    Sub Quest: Coin for Comrades

    • Go to the Institute.
    • Speak with the Mercenary.
    • Fork over 1,500 Guld.
    • Mercenary Unit Rank 2 – Shop Facility upgrades to Rank 2.

    Main Quest: Chains That Bind

    • Speak to Waltaquin.
    • Go to Lorraine and then head for the Institute.
    • Take the chance to speak with the Researcher and improve some abilities before starting the battle.
    • Clear Coswell Volcano Expedition battle. (Recommended Level: 9)
    • Go back to Elm Camp and speak to the Researcher. You’ll get Goldhorne and unlock the Practice Battle feature shortly after.
    • There’ll be another battle before the quest is over so better restore your health first. Buy anything you need like accessories and then equip Goldhorne as a usable summon along with Bahamut.
    • Go to Waltaquin and Lorraine in the mission room when you’re ready to fight.
    • Clear The Horace Threat battle. (Recommended Level: 9)
    • Notable Rewards: 500 Guld and Mercenary Unit Rank 2 – Magi Orb Research facility to Rank 2.

    Sub Quest: Blade of Admonition

    • Speak with Izelair.
    • Only a brief cutscene before you’re rewarded with 500 Guld.

Sub Quest: One’s Blade and a Mercenary Path

    • Speak with Lorraine who is in the mission room. Prepare for battle first.
    • Clear the Central Knights Exercises battle. (Recommended Level: 11)
    • Go back to the Elm Camp and speak to Lorraine again.

    Main Quest: Approaching Demise

    • Speak with Iscarion and then Lorraine in the mission room.
    • Clear the Escort the Archbishop battle. (Recommended Level: 11)
    • Notable Rewards: 500 Guld.

There are only a total of 8 quests in The DioField Chronicle Chapter 1. Most of these are main quests with only a few sub quests in between you can take.
