Wondering how to obtain all of The Last of Us Part 1 The University Collectibles? Here, we’ll show you where to look for every memento you can find as you explore the post-apocalyptic cities of America.
The Last of Us Part 1: Chapter 8 (or The University) is broken up into two parts: Go Big Horns and Science Building. Read on, and we’ll break down exactly when and where each collectible can be found, from start to finish.
All The University Collectibles Locations
There are 9 Artifacts, 5 Firefly Pendants, 2 Training Manual, 1 Comic, and 1 Tool Upgrade that you can find in The Last of Us Part 1 The University.
As such, here’s how you can obtain them in sequence:
- Free Radicals Comic
- Sniper’s Nest Log
- H. Pino’s Firefly Pendant
- Wall Panel Note
- Rohner’s Firefly Pendant
- Health Sterilization Training Manual
- UEC Campus Map
- Student’s Journal
- Warren’s Firefly Pendant
- Newspaper Clipping
- Griggs’ Firefly Pendant
- Molotov Deployment Training Manual
- Tools Level 4
- Office Recorder
- Fungal X-Rays
- Lab Recorder
- Hickman’s Firefly Pendant
- Firefly’s Recorder
Free Radicals Comic
Turn around and head up the opposite direction as soon as the chapter begins.
You’ll find the Free Radicals Comic in the passenger’s seat of a car.
Sniper’s Nest Log
As you enter the campus grounds, look for the building in the image below.
Go upstairs and head out the balcony, you’ll find the Sniper’s Nest Log artifact on the floor next to a chair.
H. Pino’s Firefly Pendant
After passing the first set of barricades, Go up the stairs and turn right.
You’ll find H. Pino’s Firefly Pendant hanging on a tree on the right, shoot it down or throw a brick/bottle at it.
Wall Panel Note
Take your horse inside the building, then enter a gate. You’ll eventually hear some runners and clickers upstairs.
Head over to the closed gate on your right, and you’ll find the artifact pasted on the wall next to the circuit box.
Rohner’s Firefly Pendant
A bit further ahead into the campus, you’ll climb some stairs and reach the next barricade.
Before jumping over the barricade, turn right and climb up the broken window. You’ll find Rohner’s Firefly Pendant on a desk by the window.
Health Sterilization Training Manual
After jumping over the barricade, go down some stairs and turn right to find a building with broken windows.
climb on the flipped blue dispenser to get to the roof, then enter the broken window. You’ll find the Health Sterilization Training Manual on a desk.
UEC Campus Map
Carry on until you reach a gated tunnel. You’ll eventually have to crawl through to get into the dormitory.
Once inside, head straight and you’ll find the the UEC Campus Map sitting on top of a counter.
Student’s Journal
Now head upstairs and enter the first or second door to your left.
You’ll find the Student’s Journal inside an interactable drawer next to a shelf.
Warren’s Firefly Pendant
You can only obtain Warren’s Firefly Pendant by killing the bloater as you drop down the hall.
Once dealt, you should be able to pick it up near its corpse.
Newspaper Clipping
Now head back upstairs, turn right as you exit the stairwell and enter the first door you’ll find.
Once inside, you’ll find the Newspaper Clipping on top of a minifridge.
Griggs’ Firefly Pendant
Continuing outside, you’ll eventually come upon a group of tents as you get near the science building.
Head over to the farthest tent behind the white truck on your left, you’ll find Griggs’ Firefly Pendant on a table.
Molotov Deployment Training Manual
After climbing up into the science building, head to the end of the hall past the yellow wires and you’ll find a shiv door (room 205 | Lecture Room).
You’ll find the Molotov Deployment Training Manual on a table to your right.
Tools Level 4
This one can be found on the same room where you collected the Training Manual.
The Tools Level 4 is on a table to your left.
Office Recorder
Turn left once you reach the top of the stairwell and head through the half barricaded door.
Once inside, turn left and enter the first room you’ll find. The Office Recorder can be found on a counter by the window.
Fungal X-Rays
You’ll eventually pass through a tented hallway, turn left as soon as you reach the other side.
The Fungal X-Rays can be found on a counter by the window.
Lab Recorder
You’ll spot some monkeys as you enter a large room. Once inside, head to your right.
The Lab Recorder can be found on a table in front of the whiteboard.
Hickman’s Firefly Pendant
After collecting the Lab Recorder, check the back corner of the shelf to your left.
You’ll find Hickman’s Firefly Pendant next to a microscope.
Firefly’s Recorder
Proceed through the next room and into the lab (Room 311 | Biology Lab).
After the cutscene, The Firefly’s Recorder will automatically be added to your inventory.
