If you’ve passed The Widow’s Court in Yaesha, you may have come across the Thaen Seed in Remnant 2. You’ll get this item by opening the Ornate lockbox, and it’s not quite clear what you can do with it. To help make its purpose easier to understand, we made this guide showing you what to do with the Thaen Seed in Remnant 2.

What to Do With the Thaen Seed in Remnant 2?

The Thaen Seed can either be planted in Ward 13 for a fruit that gives you a big buff or it can be given to The Eternal Empress in exchange for equipment that reduces skill cooldowns. You can only use it once per playthrough of The Widow’s Court, so once you make a choice, you’d best stick to it.

Like any other seed, the Thaen Seed can be planted in Ward 13. You can come back for it later for a fruit that will allow you to evade death once upon eating it. Depending on how long you wait, it’ll be a different fruit, and the longer you wait for it to become ripe, the more potent its effects become.

Here are the fruits you can get from planting the Thaen Seed in Wart 13:

  • Mature Thaen Fruit: Revives you for 30% of your Max HP, Immunity to Status Effects for 30/s
  • Elder Thaen Fruit: Revives you for 40% of your Max HP, Immunity to Status Effects for 30/s
  • Celestial Thaen Fruit: Revives you for 50% of your Max HP, Immunity to Status Effects for 30/s

The fruit isn’t a one time thing and you can come back after time has passed to pick one up again. This gives you a steady source of items that allow you to cheat death once.

On the other hand, you can also give the Thaen Seed to The Eternal Empress who you can find at The Red Throne in Yaesha which gives you The Burden of the Rebel ring. This accessory will reduce your skill cooldowns by 15% but also reduces your Relic speed by 25% so there is a tradeoff.

Giving the Thaen Seed to The Eternal Empress will also ensure that all the Pan Warriors will not be hostile with you on your current roll of Yaesha. This makes exploring the world easier as you don’t have to deal with these hulking beasts.

Between planting the Thaen Seed in Ward 13 or giving it to The Eternal Empress, it seems that planting it gives you better long-term benefits. A steady source of free death cheats whenever you need them is better overall than a ring that reduces skill cooldowns at the expense of your Relic.
