Players who are experiencing the new Captaincy update might be asking who are the Sovereign in Sea of Thieves. This fancy new neighbor has set up their own tent near the harbor alongside several other merchants. Learn all about the Sovereign in Sea of Thieves and what they do.

Who Are the Sovereign in Sea of Thieves?

The Sovereign are essentially the middlemen in Sea of Thieves allowing you to immediately sell your cargo without having to travel too far into the island. This is because their tent is set up in front of the docks, allowing you to give all your loot in one place.

The Sovereign are really convenient when you’re back from a long voyage and have plenty of cargo to give out. There’s no drawback to selling them your loot either and they pretty much accept any loot. This is unlike the other merchants who will only trade you for certain cargo.

There is a harpoon on top of the ten of The Sovereign which you can use to immediately reel in any chests on the surface of your ship. Then you can grab it and take it down to sell which is really convenient.

If you’re looking the new Captain Voyages, you’ll have to purchase those from the Shipwright store. The Sovereign don’t give out any quests and merely function as a way to sell your loot fast without having to scramble around the island.

The Sea of Thieves Captaincy update has added a lot of content for the ships of the game. However it seems that the Sovereign aren’t really doing much at the moment except for being a fast way to sell some cargo.

The Sovereign also have nothing in common with the Sovereign cosmetic set of Sea of Thieves. The latter is a ship cosmetic that was influenced by the Spanish Conquistadors.
