WWE 2K22 brings back the showcase mode, which features Rey Mysterio’s career. This game’s March 11 release date is quickly approaching, and we’ve been learning more about what this year has in store for us.
The reception of WWE 2K20 at the end of 2019 was so negative that the company suspended development on WWE 2K21 and chose to focus all of its efforts on making a much better game with an extra year to do so. WWE 2K22 will be released this Friday, but those who preordered the Deluxe Edition will be able to play it starting on Tuesday.
WWE 2K22 Rey Mysterio 2K Showcase Matches
The WWE 2K22 Showcase mode, like previous WWE games, focuses on the career of a certain WWE superstar. This season, Rey Mysterio is the Showcase star, and the iconic high-flying wrestler also serves as the WWE 2K22 cover athlete. As you continue through WWE 2K22’s 2K Showcase Mode, you will be able to unlock additional Characters, Arenas, Attires, and more.
According to Smackdown Hotel, the Showcase Mode in the upcoming wrestling game will showcase a total of twelve matches from Rey Mysterio’s career:
- Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero – WCW Halloween Havoc 1997
- Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero – WrestleMania 21 2005
- Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels – Raw 2005 (Eddie Tribute Show)
- Rey Mysterio vs. JBL – Judgment Day 2006
- Rey Mysterio vs. Kane – Cyber Sunday 2008
- Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler – SummerSlam 2009
- Rey Mysterio vs. Batista – SmackDown 2009
- Rey Mysterio vs. The Undertaker – Royal Rumble 2010
- Rey Mysterio vs. The Miz – Raw 2011
- Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe – Raw 2019
- Rey Mysterio vs. Gran Metalik – Raw 2019
- BONUS MATCH: Rey & Dominik vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy Tag Match 2020
Rey Mysterio’s Missing Key Matches
As previously said, the list includes some well-known classic matches, including as Mysterio’s 2005 WrestleMania match with Eddie Gurrero, among others. It’s worth noting that the 2006 Royal Rumble bout, which Rey Mysterio won, isn’t on the list. Similarly, Mysterio’s World Heavyweight Championship triumph at WrestleMania 22 is not in the game, however this could be because it was against Kurt Angle, who is not in this year’s game.
While this is undoubtedly upsetting news for some Rey Mysterio fans, the showcase still includes some excellent matches. That is a stacked showcase lineup through which players may relive Rey Mysterio’s legacy.
