No Man’s Sky Expedition 8: Polestar Phase 4 will have players gather more materials to prepare for the final leg of the expedition.
In this guide, we will have an in-depth guide about the fourth phase of Expedition 8: Polestar, and share some tips along the way.
No Man’s Sky Expedition 8: Polestar Tips
We’re starting off with some basic tips and helpful info that can make your expedition run a lot more smoother.
- Try gathering a bunch of Navigational Data in advance as you’ll need them for planetary charts to help in completing a milestone.
- We recommend to quickly do a scan of all the milestones in this expedition to get an idea what the tasks are so that you can make your journey a bit more efficient. Almost every milestone can be seen even at the very start of the expedition.
How to Complete No Man’s Sky Expedition 8: Polestar Phase 4
Phase 4 has seven milestones which revolve around gathering several materials in preparation for the final journey.
Log 4: No Going Back
Similar to the previous log milestones, you will be tasked to jump towards another marked star system. The next system is a few jumps away, but the more upgraded your hyperdrive is, the less jumps you will have to make.
Once you arrive at the star system, talk to the freighter captain once again to read the new ship logs.
Log 4: No Going Back rewards:
- x2 Powerful Underwater Oxygen Upgrade
- x10 Life Support Gel
- Green pain freighter customisation
Rendezvous 4
Follow the distress signal to the next planet in the star system, which will lead you to yet another underwater crashed frigate. You will need to redeploy your Nautilon Chamber once more to ride your Nautilon, or dive towards the signal until you receive the milestone completion.
Rendezvous 4 rewards:
- 3,333 Nanites
- Salvaged Frigate Module
- x2 Inventory Slot
- Multi-Tool Expansion Slot
- Cargo Bulkhead
Stardust
This milestone will require you to destroy 50 asteroids. If you have been destroying these asteroids since the expedition started, those will count towards this milestone and you have probably completed this by now.
Stardust rewards:
- x400 Liquid Sun
- x1,234 Oxygen
- x5 Starship Storage Augmentation
Reclamation
You will have to locate a crashed starship and repair its vital parts. These can be found in inhabited planets and they usually broadcast distress signals.
Using Planetary Charts (Emergency Cartographic Data) can be purchased from the Cartographer at the space station for x1 Navigation Data. It’s recommended to purchase multiple charts as you won’t always get a distress signal from a starship on every chart. You can also look for Transmission Towers to find distress signals, and even the Nautilon and the Minotaur have scanners that can pick them up.
Once you find a crashed starship (that has no NPC pilot around), interact with it to claim it. You can then repair its pulse engine and/or launch thruster to bring it back to a flyable state.
Reclamation rewards:
- Aeration Membrane plans
- Efficient Water Jets plans
- Supreme Life Support Upgrade
Recycling
Once the starship is repaired, you can take it back to a space station and and scrap it down. Just make sure that you are scrapping down the right ship, and not your main ship.
Recycling rewards:
- Supreme Movement System Upgrade
- Lost Artifact
- Supreme Launch Thrusters Upgrade
- x5 Repair Kit
Prospector
This milestone will have you scan 15 different minerals. This can be done within 3-4 planets, and all minerals scanned since the beginning of the expedition will be counted towards this milestone.
Prospector rewards:
- x3 Salvaged Frigate Module
- Supreme System Upgrade
- x25 Salvaged Data
Gold like Sand
This milestone will require you to earn a total of 9,000,000 units within the expedition. One of the easiest ways to earn this much units is by doing contraband runs, or by destroying the cargo pods of freighters and selling their contents. Like the other quote milestones, this one can be completed in the earlier phases of the expedition.
Gold like Sand rewards:
- 600 Quicksilver
- x3 Inventory Slot
- Terrifying Sample
Expedition 8: Polestar Phase 4 Completion Rewards
Once you’ve completed all milestones for this phase, you can claim this reward from the Phase 4 badge in the Expedition page. You can also already claim it in your other save files even before completing the expedition.
