Game developer RGG Studio recently made a statement in regards to the upcoming video game Yakuza: Like a Dragon for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

According to the studio, players who will play the game on the PS4 will have to enjoy the game on that console only. The saves on the PS4, unfortunately, is not transferable to the next-gen Sony console. It will not allow saves to transfer between console generations.

To clarify, physical owners of Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS4 can also use the original disc to upgrade to the PS5 version when it releases on March 2, 2021.

Save data will not be transferable between the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.

Here is the good news though: owners of both digital and physical editions of the game on PS4 can get a free PS5 upgrade. There is just the condition of the saves that are not transferable.

This is similar to the case the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which Insomniac Games said that the progress will not transfer from PS4 to PS5. There was also the difference between the PS4 version of the original game not eligible for free upgrade for the remastered version of the PS5.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is also available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The next-gen versions of the game will be $59.99 only.
