Phasmophobia – Can You Play It On PS4?

The PS4 is a great console to play any horror game and Phasmophobia is certainly no different.

It’s a game that has been made popular by streamers and influencers alike. No doubt that has influenced you to try out the game for yourself. Though you may be feeling left out depending on what platform you’re playing on.

    Is Phasmophobia on PS4?

Sadly, Phasmophobia isn’t on the PS4. There are plans to port the game to consoles but the PlayStation 4 unfortunately isn’t one of them. If you want to play Phasmophobia on the consoles, you’ll have to get it where it’s available.

    Will Phasmophobia come to PS4?

Phasmophobia will not be coming to PS4, however it will be coming to the PS5 this August 2023 as an Early Access release. Only current-gen consoles will be able to have access to the game.

What Phasmophobia on Early Access means is that the game is still continuously being updated. PS5 players will get the same version PC currently has on Steam allowing them access to all the latest features. The game has been on Early Access since its release on September 2020.

Since Phasmophobia is VR compatible, players can also use the PS VR2 for a more immersive experience. You’ll have over 10 locations to explore and 24 ghost types to identify.

    Will Phasmophobia feature crossplay?

Phasmophobia will support crossplay between consoles and PC platforms. You can connect with your friends from Xbox Series X|S or PC in a group of up to four people investigating a ghost haunting the premises.

You’ll most likely need PS Plus in order to play with friends. Without PS Plus, your connection online is limited on the PS5 so you’ll have to be subscribed if you plan to play with others.

    Why You Should Play Phasmophobia

Phasmophobia is a fun game to play whether alone or with friends. There’s an appeal to the investigative horror nature that can make each game different. This is why we’re hoping for the game to release on the consoles.

    • Phasmophobia features a voice proximity as a game mechanic. There are tools in the game that allow you to communicate with the ghost you’re investigating. At the same time, this is a double edged blade as when the ghost is hunting you, making noise will reveal your location.
    • The investigation gets dangers the longer it gets. If you’re the type of player who likes it safe, then you may want to find evidences and complete goals as soon as possible. Ghosts attack and react to your party based on your general average sanity. However, there are objectives that can require you to stick your neck out. Some ghosts are harder to identify than others so you’ll definitely have to take your time to be sure.
    • Each ghost is different. Some are more aggressive, some are more shy. But they’re all deadly and can kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing. The characteristics of a ghost won’t show be obvious right away and can take some repeat experiments and team coordination to be absolutely sure.
    • No investigation will be the same. Even if the ghost you encounter is of the same type as the last, interactions with it are randomized in a way that makes each game feel unique in its own way.
    • Phasmophobia is scary especially for first time players who aren’t really knowledgeable in what to do. Even after twenty hours of playing game, we still get scared of every time a light flickers. This is because Phasmophobia executes the anticipation of horror very well. You won’t always see the ghost, but you know they’re always watching you.
