Battlefield 2042 head of design has been reported to have left EA DICE.
According to a report by VGC, Head of Design Fawzi Mesmar at EA DICE for both Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront franchises has now left the developer. It was clarified that the sudden decision of leaving DICE was not deliberate. He had been planning to leave the studio for a while now once the new game Battlefield 2042 launched.
It was revealed that Mesmar has worked at EA DICE as head of design for both the shooter franchises since 2019. He oversaw groups of developers with more than 80 people. Before entering DICE though, he was the studio director at King, the makers of Candy Crush and other mobile games.
VGC also reported that the internal emails they saw revealed EA DICE have already planned for someone to succeed him when he leaves. One of the emails from Mesmar says that they delayed to announce his departure after the launch of Battlefield 2042 in order to keep focus.
Hopefully, Mesmar’s departure does not slow down the fixes that are coming for Battlefield 2042 as it had a really buggy launch with a lot of players complaining. EA DICE might need to make some changes soon or else a lot of fans will be disappointed.
Battlefield 2042 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Update 2 was recently released fixing critical bugs and more.
