Chorus – All Core Systems and Mods Upgrade Guide

In Chorus, a 3rd-person space combat shooter, developed by Fishlabs and published by Deep Silver, the player assumes the role of Nara, once the Circle’s deadliest warrior with her sentient starship named Forsaken.

Together, they explore the galaxy, participate in intense zero-gravity combat, and journey beyond the Void to acquire powerful weapons and mind-bending abilities.

One of the goals is to fully upgrade your starship, Forsaken, into its full potential and this can be done by collecting weaponry, modifications, and hull or shield enhancements.

How to Collect Items and Modification Upgrades in Chorus?

Weapons, items, modifications, and upgrades are collected from Side Missions from other characters in the world, whether they are ships, stations, AI terminals, memories, etc. At times, they are narratively tied to the main story and other times, they can be used to introduce or flesh out a character, develop the lore, or educate the player on something new about the Chorus universe.

Upgrades can also be collected through Random Encounters which appear at random locations around the planet and provide small-scale distractions and skirmishes.

In most cases, defeating these encounters results in the receipt of credits, which may subsequently be used to purchase equipment and upgrades in the hangar.

Where to Find Items and Modification Upgrades in Chorus?

To equip, modify and upgrade your starship’s Core Systems and Modifications, all you have to do is to head over to the hangar in your map. You can also access this while flying by pressing Tab (PC) or Options/Pause button (PS4/PS5) or Menu button (Xbox).

Chorus Hangar entrance

Successfully completing side missions and random encounters will always reward you with significant goodies that you can use to modify and upgrade your starship, thus allowing you to collect all of the ship core systems and modifications below:

Ship Core Systems and Modifications for Chorus

Core Systems

Chorus - Ship Structure
Ship Structure (Core System)

Ship Structure (Core System)

Hull Fragment
  • These are materials for making additional plates for the hull, as well as improving the structure of its hull. A ship’s strength can be significantly increased by collecting just three fragments.
  • HP: 1400
  • Highest Tier: 8/8
Shield Fragment
  • Regenerating energy shields are powered by these high-capacity energy cells, which are found on every ship’s hull. A ship’s shield resistance can be greatly improved by integrating a new energy cell array after collecting three fragments.
  • Shield: 200
  • Highest Tier: 5/5
RD-26AC Fixer
  • Repairs any hull material at its molecular level can be performed by the RD-26AC Fixer. All affected ship systems are repaired within 16.67 milliseconds by scanning the damage and restructuring matter in a way that is identical to the original material’s resistance to new damage. Fixer will begin repairing and then begin regenerating nanorobots for their next deployment once all repairs have been completed.
chorus-core systems and mods - gatling
Gatling (Core System)

Gatling (Core System)

The Gatling is the most effective against HP, although it is less effective against shields and armor.

Talon
  • With an unprecedented rate of fire, the Talon is the best Gatling gun on the market today. It adjusts the oxidizer in each cartridge so that every shot is fired at its fastest possible speed in any zero-g environment. Despite its high level of dependability, prolonged bursts can cause the weapon to overheat, resulting in a temporary reduction in its rate of fire
Savage Talon
  • Bullets coated with a supra-magnetic liquid can disrupt shields and eat through even the most advanced hull materials when fired from this heavy Gatling gun. However, it is less effective against armor and requires advanced cooling to keep its rounds at the right temperature. Consequently, this gun overheats more rapidly.
Rage Talon
  • Nara receives a Gatling gun as a gift from the Viper Clan’s leader, Chief Rage. This weapon is said to have helped him “work his way up” through the clan ranks and eventually get rid of the previous clan leader. No one can deny the Gatling’s ability to penetrate enemy shields while generating less heat, making it an extremely effective weapon.
Guardian Fang
  • The Sacred Guardians’ service weapon, used by an elite order of Circle warriors tasked with guarding the Nimika system’s ancient wisdom tablet. This job necessitates a weapon that goes above and beyond the standard configurations.
Shredding Claw
  • Customized high-impact rounds are fired from this Gatling gun, which has been enhanced with a slug shot unit.
Death Fang
  • Gatling gun with ricochet device in addition to the standard reaping storm unit of the Guardian.
Nimika Claw
  • Aside from artists, politicians, and cunning traders who once made the Nimika system famous for their free-thinking ways, the system’s weapon engineers were also excellent. In the Nuumra family, the Shredding Claw was just one example of an exciting design that was enhanced to perfection. Thus, this launcher is equipped with both a slug-shooting unit and a plate-crushing mechanism.

chorus-chorus-core systems and mods - lasercore systems and mods - laser
Laser (Core System)

Laser (Core System)

The laser is used for destroying shields and precise work. Unlike the Gatling, which only occasionally overheats, lasers rapidly drain their charge and have a lower rates of fire.

Glow
  • There have been beam weapon prototypes in existence since the earliest days of space combat. However, due to their high demand for high-capacity energy cells and resource shortages during intergalactic civil wars, they are in short supply. Energy cells are more readily available now that the Circle has brought peace and stability to many regions. A Glow’s recharge time is long, but its shield damage is excellent.
Melting Glow
  • Every shot of a beam laser is important because of the time it takes to recharge. Engineers in the Martano Cluster were able to shrink high-voltage capacitors used in mining lasers during the civil wars. Lasers can now be fired from even one-seat vessels at a level previously reserved for heavy mining equipment.
Hunting Glow
  • You must be ready to fire whenever an opportunity presents itself during high-speed dogfights. This laser’s charge-up speed is boosted by a comprehensive array of micro-capacitors, allowing it to reach its maximum destructive force more quickly. The Hunting Glow is one of the most versatile lasers on the market because of this feature.
War Beam
  • It takes a long time for a laser weapon to reach its full potential because it requires a lot of energy to fire. It’s important to use these charges as wisely as possible. A Discharge Limiter simplifies this process and reduces the actual energy consumption of a fully charged shot, increasing its overall fire rate.
Blaze Ray
  • Weapons from the Neju Coalition are known to have similar design features. However, it’s more likely that someone else repurposed existing laser weapons from Neju wrecks. A critical overload unit has been added to this laser.
Paralyzing Beam
  • With an additional paralyzing frequency unit, this modified war beam laser is one of the most lethal on the market. It is only available to a select group of customers.
Void Ray
  • Circle Scientists used their most recent Faceless research to push the boundaries of this laser’s capabilities. When this weapon fires its beam, it adds a Void crystal quantum to its wavelengths. To complicate matters, the target’s explosion causes a spatially confirmed electromagnetic fallout known as lightning cloud, which is caused by this “charge” of the Void.

Missile (Core System)

Missile (Core System)

Missiles are used to take out slow armored targets, as well as fixed turrets, among other things. Technically speaking, you can use them to hit moving targets. Missiles require precision, in contrast with the Gatlings where you can achieve the same results without having to be as precise with your targeting or keep track of flight periods.

Javelin
  • This is the first time we’ve seen a revival of interest in missile launchers on smaller ships. Even the most agile single-seat crafts can now use them. In the event of a prolonged battle, the weapon’s ammo will run out before the component-assembler can replenish it.
Barrage Javelin
  • After decades of study, it has finally been proven that missile launchers can be more agile and versatile weapons suitable for long dogfights against heavy targets. It’s also ideal for making bombing runs. Assemblers on the Barrage Javelin have been turbocharged to produce warheads that can be loaded into the launcher in a fraction of the time it takes to reload a standard rocket.
Charged Javelin
  • The increased size of the warheads fired by this missile launcher gives it greater blasting power against ship hull coatings and armor, but it is less effective against ship shields. The Charged Javelin has a small clip size due to its unique projectile shape.shield systems. Due to its particular projectile form factor, the Charged Javelin provides only a small clip size.
Werewolf Spear
  • The apex of the Neju Coalition’s weapon research program is this launcher. In the final stages of “Project Werewolf,” under Col. Cass’ supervision, this weapon was developed but it was never put into mass production. As if a star’s ionized plasma weren’t hot enough, its warheads are covered in an Amarit superstructure that radiates intense heat.
Cluster Bola
  • For barrage fire, this advanced javelin missile launcher with a cluster artillery unit excels with a larger damage radius.
Poisoned Spear
  • As a result of the addition of the contaminator unit, this Werewolf Spear is improved over the standard model.
Seeking Bola
  • In addition to its cluster artillery, this new Cluster Bola has a hunter unit built in.
