Cyberpunk 2077 Gigs are the lifeblood of Night City’s thriving mercenary economy. In this sprawling metropolis, where high-tech meets lowlife, Gigs comprise a wide variety of missions and activities. In this article, I will discuss what Cyberpunk 2077 Gigs are, how to approach them, and why they are an integral part of the game’s experience.
In this guide:
What Are Gigs?
Gigs are one of the core mission types in Cyberpunk 2077. These missions are essentially small-scale tasks or contracts that you can undertake throughout Night City. They serve as a way to earn money, gain experience, and immerse yourself in the gritty world of Cyberpunk 2077. Unlike the main story quests, Gigs are often self-contained and offer a glimpse into the lives of various characters and factions within Night City.
Types of Gigs
Cyberpunk 2077 offers different kinds of Gigs, each with its unique storyline and objectives. Here are the types of Gigs you’ll encounter:
- Thievery Gigs: In these Gigs, you’re tasked with stealing valuable items, data, or vehicles from a target location.
- SOS: Merc Needed: In these Gigs, you’ll be tasked with rescuing hostages or individuals in distress. You’ll need to navigate through hostile situations, making choices that can lead to different outcomes.
- Gun for Hire: As a mercenary, your contracts are to eliminate specific targets.
- Search and Recover Gigs: In these Gigs, clients present you with missions to find something of great importance, be it a valuable item, sensitive data, or a long-lost relic.
- Agent Saboteur Gigs: These Gigs involve sabotaging equipment, facilities, or corporate assets. Sometimes, you’ll need to gather critical information by hacking into data terminals or interrogating NPCs.
- Special Delivery (Convoy): In these Gigs, you act as a courier tasked to deliver the cargo you’re entrusted with. It might be sensitive data, a precious item, or life itself.
- Cyberpsycho Sighting: These contracts involve tracking down and taking out dangerous cyberpsychos or rival gang members.
Difference between side jobs and gigs?
In Cyberpunk 2077, distinguishing between Side Jobs and Gigs is crucial to understanding the game’s mission structure. While both offer additional content beyond the main storyline, Side Jobs tend to be more intricate, often providing deeper narrative and character development. These quests are typically tied to major characters and storylines.
Gigs, on the other hand, are smaller-scale tasks or contracts that encompass a wide range of objectives, mainly for earning much-needed eddies. Completing Gigs also grants access to unique gear, cyberware, and other valuable assets. These missions are often self-contained, offering glimpses into the lives of various characters and factions in Night City. Gigs can range from stealthy infiltrations to all-out combat missions.
How do you get gigs?
Gaining access to Gigs in Cyberpunk 2077 is a gradual process intertwined with the story and your progression within the game. Fixers, acting as intermediaries between clients with tasks and skilled mercenaries, will be your primary source for Gig opportunities. These Fixers will gradually contact you through phone calls and messages as you progress through the story and gain access to specific districts’ Fixers.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that certain Gigs may only spawn during specific times of the day. Some will be available after 8 PM, while others will be available before 8 PM.
As you reach Street Cred milestones and level up, new Gigs will become available. They will be marked by distinctive yellow icons on your map, guiding you to various mission locations. However, not all Gigs are immediately accessible. Some may require you to reach a specific level of Street Cred or complete other Gigs and Missions as prerequisites. You’ll find the unlock requirements detailed on each Gig’s Walkthrough page.
How many gigs does Cyberpunk 2077 have?

How important are the Gigs in Cyberpunk?
Completing Gigs rewards you with experience points (XP), which are essential for leveling up your character. As you gain levels, you unlock new perks, abilities, and attributes, enhancing your overall gameplay capabilities.
Gigs provide a steady source of income. Money is pivotal in Night City, allowing you to purchase better gear, cyberware, and vehicles to bolster your combat effectiveness and style. Beyond currency, Gigs often offer valuable items, weapons, and equipment as rewards. These items can significantly improve your combat prowess and customization options.
Do Gigs Give More Money in Cyberpunk 2077?
The amount of money you receive as a reward for completing Gigs can vary. The complexity and risk associated with each Gig often determine the payout. More complex and high-risk Gigs typically offer larger monetary rewards. These missions may involve multiple objectives, significant combat encounters, or intricate storylines. Your character’s negotiation skills can influence the payment you receive for completing Gigs. Investing in attributes and perks related to negotiation can help you secure higher payouts from clients.
As your Street Cred level increases, you may gain access to more Gigs that offer greater financial rewards. Building positive relationships with clients and factions can also lead to better compensation for your services during Gigs.
While the base payments for Gigs might not be exceedingly high, how you approach them can significantly impact your income. One approach is to adopt a more aggressive playstyle, eliminating all enemies and thoroughly looting the area for anything that isn’t a direct upgrade. Scanning your surroundings diligently ensures you don’t miss out on valuable loot, and hacking data protocol points can provide you with quick eddies.
When your inventory approaches its limit, call your car to the scene and store everything in the trunk. This trunk serves as an extension of your inventory, making it easy to manage your items. Once you return home, sell everything that isn’t legendary or unique and isn’t something you wish to keep for yourself.
To further boost your earnings when doing a Gig, it’s advisable to invest in your crafting abilities. Crafting and subsequently selling legendary weapons can prove to be a highly profitable endeavor. It’s essential to be a meticulous scavenger, picking up every available gun and item. If you find yourself encumbered and unable to reach your car, disassembling guns valued under 100 eddies is an excellent way to gain crafting experience points.
Lastly, the Gigs with the biggest cash rewards often come from Fixers like Rogue or are part of the final set of missions for each Fixer. These high-paying Gigs, like “A Shrine Defiled” for Wakako, can provide a solid base payment, with additional bonuses for completing them undetected. Moreover, higher-level loot obtained from enemies becomes increasingly valuable as you progress in the game, with rare or epic items fetching higher prices.
While you can employ these strategies early in the game, around level 20, enemies will drop more uncommon and rare weapons, including valuable tech weapons. Certain Gigs, such as those offered by Sinnerman, Dino, and Padre, pay generously for relatively simple tasks, offering a quick way to accumulate funds.
For additional selling options, there are drop points and vendors like Wilson at Second Amendment or Coach Fred for melee weapons. However, it’s worth noting that frequently looting nearby sell terminals can deplete their cash reserves, necessitating occasional time-skipping to replenish their funds. By carefully considering these strategies and tailoring them to your character’s level and playstyle, you can effectively maximize your earnings from Gigs.
How to fix Not Getting Any Gig Missions & Fixers Not Calling to Offer Gigs
It’s not uncommon for players to encounter a frustrating issue where Fixers stop calling for new Gig missions. When Fixers stop reaching out, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix this issue:
- Complete Main Story Missions: Sometimes, the availability of Gigs is tied to your progress in the main storyline. If you’ve been primarily focusing on side content and haven’t advanced the main plot, consider completing a few main story missions. This can trigger Fixers to contact you with new Gigs.
- Check Street Cred Level: Certain Gigs may require a specific Street Cred level to unlock. If you haven’t been actively engaging in activities that boost your Street Cred, such as completing NCPD Scanner Hustles or Side Jobs, consider doing so to increase your Street Cred. Check the Gig’s prerequisites to see if Street Cred is a requirement.
- Sleep and Advance Time: Sleeping in V’s apartment and manually advancing time by 24 hours can sometimes trigger the appearance of new Gigs. This method has been effective for some players in refreshing Fixer contacts.
- Contact Fixers Directly: If Fixers are not reaching out to you, you can take the initiative and contact them directly. Open your map, zoom in on the location of a Fixer, and use the navigation options to reach them. Visiting a Fixer in person may lead to them offering Gigs.
- Read Shards: Occasionally, important information related to Gigs may be found in Shards, accessible through the menu. Reading through your Shards, especially those acquired during previous missions, can provide clues or triggers for new Gigs.
- Reload Previous Save: If none of the above methods work, you can try reloading a previous save from before the issue began. This can sometimes reset mission triggers and prompt Fixers to contact you with Gigs.
- Update the Game: Ensure that your game is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Developers often release fixes for known issues, and updating your game client may resolve any bugs affecting Gig availability.
- Check for Known Bugs: Check community forums and official channels for any known bugs related to Fixers not offering Gigs. Developers may provide workarounds or solutions for such issues.
By following these steps and experimenting with different approaches, you can hopefully resolve the problem of Fixers not offering Gig missions, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the bustling world of Cyberpunk 2077 and take on its myriad of challenges.
