Destiny 2 Last Man Standing God Roll: Best PvP & PvE Perks

We continue this series of reprived Season of the Drifter weapons. This time focusing on the Last Man Standing solar Aggressive Frame shotgun. Following the theme of returning weapons exactly the way they were, the Season of the Deep version of the Last Man Standing has the exactly same stats as it did back then. This does not bode well for the reprived shotgun.

The Last Man Standing has one of the lowest stat spreads we’ve seen on an Aggressive frame. Shotguns like the Imperial Degree and Mindbender’s Ambition completely blow this weapon out of the water. It’s almost sad how power crept this weapon’s been to oblivion and back.

How to Get Last Man Standing in Destiny 2?

The Last Man Standing is part of the Reckoning weapon set. It and the other weapons in the set are chance drops at the end of seasonal activities in Season of the Deep. You can also get them after delivering Legendary fish to the H.E.L.M. If you wish to focus decrypt the Last Man Standing, you first need to acquire a random roll of the weapon and spend 4 Deep engrams and Glimmer at the Sonar Station.

Best Last Man Standing PvP God Rolls

  • 1st Column: Smoothbore
  • 2nd Column: Accurized Rounds
  • Range Masterwork
  • Quick Access Sling Mod
  • Opening Shot + Shot Swap (This combination allows the user to quickly swap to and fro the shotgun at fast speeds after getting a kill with any weapon.)
  • Opening Shot + Rampage (Useful in 6v6 content. You really need to learn the weird quirks and inconsistencies of the weapon when Opening Shot is no longer active.)
  • Opening Shot + Discord (The “fun” combination. This pretty much relegates the shotgun to a secondary. The upside here is that while Discord is active, you’ll be refunded an extra round for free.)

PvP Tips

When your best PvP perks are in the same column, that leaves Opening Shot as your best option. In fairness, you can pair Opening Shot with every 4th column trait minus One For All. More often than not, you have one chance to secure a kill. And considering how low the base Range is on this shotgun, you’ll need every bit of help to cover the potential distance.

You can still go for Threat Detector as a replacement but as a primary perk on an Aggressive Frame, it’s kind of wasted. But if you insist on going the route of Threat Detector, you’d best be aware that you’ll need to be really close to secure that kill. The good news is that you might be too close for comfort to your enemy and they might just fail to react in time.

(It worked out for me on more than a few occasions during weapon testing.)

The Disaster Plan Origin Trait can actually be useful here. If you have trait active, it might just give you enough flinch resistance to get a shot off in close range. Just hope that the Range bump kicks in as intended.

Best Last Man Standing Best PvE God Rolls

  • 1st Column: Barrel Shroud
  • 2nd Column: Assault Mag
  • Reload Speed Masterwork
  • Boss Spec Mod
  • Subsistence + Rampage (Crowd control combination. You might want to run energy ammo finder mods as well as ammo finishers.)
  • Threat Detector + Discord (In PvE content, this is actually very useful. Get a kill with your primary and you’ll have a few seconds to go berserk on red bars. It won’t be as useful as having it on a fusion rifle but beggars can’t be choosers.)
  • Compulsive Reloader + One-Two Punch (The most practical boss-damaging combination for this shotty. Great for Arc Hunters with Liar’s Handshake. Though it would have been better if it had Auto-Loading Holster in the third column.)

PvE Tips

There are a fair number of good options when it comes to finding one for PvE content. Not close to being a must-have. It’s definitely missing pairing traits. What we have left are some good traits that somewhat work well together.

At the end of the day, it’s how you use the weapon that matters. But if you’re asking us, go get a good roll with Discord on it. It’s the only perk that sets this shotgun apart from the others.

How good is the Last Man Standing?

The Last Man Standing, in our opinion, is the most middle-of-the-road shotgun that’s ever been introduced as of late. There aren’t many redeeming qualities other than the fact that it’s a Solar Aggressive Frame shotgun. And there are more than a few others that get the job done and do them so much better.

The weapon doesn’t fair any better in PvE but at least you can get some value out of Discord. In fact, if you have another Energy weapon in the Primary slot with Discord, you can potentially swap between them endlessly without ever having to reload very often.

These are the Last Man Standing Base Stats before any perks are applied:

  • Impact: 80
  • Range: 26
  • Stability: 19
  • Handling: 25
  • Reload Speed: 31
  • Zoom: 12
  • Rounds Per Minute: 55
  • Magazine: 4

The Last Man Standing has a bunch of good perks. But is hindered by having its best perks in the same column. Most notably Opening Shot and Threat Detector. The rest of the perks aren’t bad, it’s just that there’s no combination that we can think of that make this gun stand out in a sea of good shotguns.

3rd Column Perks

  • Threat Detector
  • Subsistence
  • Opening Shot
  • Hip-Fire Grip
  • Compulsive Reloader
  • Pugilist

4th Column Perks

  • Discord
  • One-Two Punch
  • Rampage
  • Swashbuckler
  • One For All
  • Shot Swap

While we are disappointed with Last Man Standing’s performance, it nevertheless has a good weapon model. It’s one of the weapons that managed to come back from Year 2, after all. It’s just a shame that it wasn’t modernized to fit well in today’s Destiny 2 sandbox. Hopefully, the next set of reprived seasonal weapons won’t suffer the same fate as the Reckoning Set.

But hey, if you really enjoy using the shotgun, then have it. Destiny 2 is a game where you have literally thousands of options to choose from. There’s no shame in liking a suboptimal line of weapons. (I do happen to like the Throne World weapons despite what everyone else says.) Good luck and have fun out there, Guardians.

Destiny 2 Season of the Deep is out now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. The season will run from May 23, 2023, to August 22, 2023.
