Maelstrom is one of the quests under the Season of Defiance in Destiny 2. The Vex have been making advances to invade the city of Neomuna and it is up to the Guardians to help the city repel the Vex forces.

Read ahead as we go through the steps on how to complete the Maelstrom quest in Destiny 2.

How to unlock the Maelstrom Quest

To unlock the Maelstrom quest, you must first complete the Stargazer quest.

How to complete the Maelstrom Quest

The Maelstrom quest has four steps, with each step having one or more objectives.

    Maelstrom Step 1

As the description suggests, you need to head to the Vex Incursion Zone which is at the Liming Harbor in Neomuna which is where you’ll be able to find the stuff that will add up to this quest progress.

First off, to complete the Area defended objective, you simply have to defeat the Vex that are in the incursion zone. Participating in public events and patrols will help you gain progress for this objective, as well as just picking up resources in the area.

For the Strand resources bonded, you need to look for the Strand resources that can be found in the area. There is one that spawns underneath the central building in the harbor. These Strand resources have timers and you need to approach and bond with them before the timer runs out. You’ll know that your bond is successful if you get the Strand Empowered effect. They also spawn after around 10 minutes in the same spot and you will only need to bond twice to complete this objective.

    Maelstrom Step 2

For the second step, you will need to complete a Lost Sector within the Vex Incursion Zone. The Thrilladrome Lost Sector can be found at the northern section of the Liming Harbor. There will be lots of enemies in this Lost Sector that you can defeat, but you only need to loot the chest at the end of the course in order to complete the Lost Sector.

    Maelstrom Step 3

For the third step, head over to the Hall of Heroes to repair the Maelstrom’s memorial.

    Maelstrom Step 4

For the final step, go to Quinn Laghari at the Hall of Heroes to report your progress, complete the quest, and get the next quest.

After completing the quest, you will receive one weapon from this season’s loot pool.
