The Quicksilver Storm Catalyst is an amazing touch to the new Strand powers that have been introduced in Destiny 2’s Season of the Deep. By itself, the Quicksilver Storm is already a deadly weapon in both PVP and PVE, and its catalyst adds more utility by complementing the Strand element. Use this guide to learn how to unlock the Destiny 2 Quicksilver Storm Catalyst for yourself.
How to Unlock Quicksilver Storm Catalyst?
To unlock the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst, complete the Any Data Port in a Storm mission. This mission can be picked up from the holoprojector that’s near Nimbus in the Neomuna.
You can’t really get the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst unless you have the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion. In order to pick pick up Any Data Port in a Storm, you’ll have to complete Downfall first which is the third mission in the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion’s campaign.
To get the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst, you need to collect data by rapidly defeating combatants in this mission with certain weapons like auto rifles, grenade launchers, and grenades. The last part of the mission will ask you to defeat enemies with the alternate fire of the Quicksilver Storm in order to receive the catalyst.
After receiving the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst, kill enemies with it, and the weapon is yours.
What does the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst do?
The Quicksilver Storm Catalyst creates Tangles upon final blows using the weapon’s alternate grenade launcher fire mode. These Tangles can be used to grapple around using the Strand-based Grapple Grenade.
Grappling is incredibly useful in both PVP and PVE. The sheer maneuverability it gives you means you can move around more freely through the Tangles the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst creates. Grappling Tangles immediately recharge your grenade energy, so you can chain them around.
Season of the Deep has buffed the Strand element, even introducing new Catalysts for each of the three subclasses. You can check out our build guides for the Flechette Storm Titan, Threaded Specter Hunter, and The Wanderer Warlock, which can work with the Quicksilver Storm Catalyst for this season.
