How to Catch Helioptile in Pokémon GO

To catch Helioptile, you’ll have to participate in the event exclusive Power Plant field research tasks of Pokémon GO. There are several event exclusive tasks, however we’re only aiming to acquire a few of them to encounter Helioptile in the wild. When using the spinning PokéStops, you’ll get these field research tasks at random. Make sure to get the ones that reward you with an encounter against Helioptile.

The field research tasks you’re looking for are:

  • Catch 5 Electric-Type Pokémon – you’ll be rewarded with an encounter against Helioptile, Electrike, or Joltik
  • Walk for 1 Kilometer – you’ll be rewarded with an encounter against Helioptile

The field research tasks above will reward you with an encounter from Helioptile. Helioptile can be battled and caught like any other Wild Pokémon. Helioptile is an Electric and Normal type Pokémon so be sure not to bring any who are weak to Electric moves.

While you’re encouraged to catch Electric-type Pokémon during the duration of the Power Plant event, you should make sure that you first have the field research tasks that asks you to catch 5 Electric-type Pokémon.

You’ll find a lot of Electric-types during one-star raids of the event such as Pikachu, Blitzle, Shinx, Klink, and Bedlum. Three-star raids will feature Monferno, Piloswine, Dewgong, and Druddigon.

How to Get Heliolisk in Pokémon GO

Helioptile can be evolved to becoming a Heliolisk. Unlike Helioptile that can be encountered as a Wild Pokémon, Heliolisk cannot be encountered as such.

To get Heliolisk, you have to first capture Helioptile via completing the field research tasks. You can then evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk by feeding it 50 Helioptile Candy and a Sun Stone.

To get Helioptile Candy, you’ll have to keep catching Helioptile which shouldn’t be too hard due to the Power Plant event going on. Though getting the Sun Stone is more challenging. You’ll get the item via spinning PokéStops and Gyms but they only have a 1% drop rate making them in high demand.

How to Catch Shiny Helioptile

Since Helioptile can be encountered as a Wild Pokémon, there is a chance that a Shiny Helioptile might pop up sometime in the future. However, there isn’t an announcement of a Shiny Helioptile variant just yet. Considering that Helioptile is just new to Pokémon GO, we might just get a Shiny Helioptile variant in a Community event in the future.

And that is everything about everything you need to know about catching Helioptile, getting it to its Heliolisk evolved form, and about the Shiny Helioptile variant.
