Stay on Target is one of the main missions in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga where the Rebel Alliance did an assault on the Death Star upon learning how to defeat it. With the help of Han Solo and his Millennium Falcon, Luke was able to deal the shot that destroyed the weapon.
In this guide, we will look into the tips and tricks on how to clear all challenges of the Stay on Target mission.
How to Unlock the Stay on Target Mission?
To unlock Stay on Target, you have play through the first four missions of Episode IV: A New Hope.
There are three challenges in the Stay on Target mission which have their own conditions:
- Clever Flying: Use a “loop manoeuver” to break out of Darth Vader’s targeting systems 3 times.
- Hope That’s Insured: Destroy 10 turrets while doing the trench run.
- That’s Not Going to Buff Out…: Cause severe damage to Darth Vader’s ship.
Completing all challenges will reward you with a Kyber Brick.
How to Complete Stay on Target challenges in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Clever Flying
While flying near the turrets, you will see a targeting prompt showing two halves of a reticle slowly moving close to one another accompanied by a beeping noise that gets faster. Wait until the two halves get close to each other before doing the loop manoeuver by pressing the key shown on the reticles (L1+R1/LCtrl+LAlt). Do this three times to complete the challenge.
Hope That’s Insured
While flying through the Meridian Trench, shoot down the turrets that are constructed along it. These turrets can be upright on the ground or on the side of the trench wall. They are also marked as targets along with the enemy ships and the current objective on the trench requires 15 destroyed defences only, so focus on the turrets first. Once you destroy 10 turrets, you will complete the challenge.
That’s Not Going to Buff Out…
While in the area where the exhaust ports are, focus first on Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter which will be flying nearby. Locate it and shoot at it. It moves to different locations in the same area after it takes a couple of hits, and once enough damage is done, it flies out of the area and you will complete the challenge.
Stay on Target Challenge Tips
- All challenges on this level can be completed on the first run.
- If you are having trouble on how to pull off a loop, especially on the PC, try rebinding the keys to one that works for you.

Here are the characters that you can unlock in the Stay on Target mission:
- Luke Skywalker (Ceremony)
- Luke Skywalker (Rebel Pilot)
- Wedge Antilles
All characters listed above can be unlocked just by completing the mission.
