All Marriage Candidates in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
There are 8 marriage candidates in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Each of them have their own personalities and places they usually hang around. We’ve made a separate guide for the 4 bachelors and 4 bachelorettes that teaches you their favorite gifts and helps you get to know them better. Here are all the marriage candidates in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.
All Bachelorettes:
- Cecilia: A sweet, nature loving girl who works at Vesta’s farm. Caring for crops and flowers is her passion.
- Lumina: A pianist who has lived in Forgotten Valley since she was a child. Listen carefully, and you may be able to hear her play when you visit her grandmother’s villa. While she tends to be prim and proper, Lumina shows a more confident side to those she trusts.
- Molly: A lovely, lively lady who moved from the city to Forgotten Valley and works part-time at the Bluebird Cafe. She always keeps a positive outlook on life even when things don’t go her way.
- Nami: An introverted traveler staying at the Lei-Over Inn. Her past is shrouded in mystery, but despite her cool, nonchalant attitude, she’s well-liked by the residents of the valley.
All Bachelors:
- Gordy: An artist of few words. He’s constantly lost in thought, wondering how he can create his next masterpiece. He uses his bare hands to sculpt metal sheets into works of art.
- Gustafa: A free-spirited bard who has travelled the world and settled, for the time being, in Forgotten Valley. He loves music and nature and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.
- Matthew: Vesta’s sullen younger brother. He’s hard-headed and standoffish to those he doesn’t know, but perhaps that’s just his shyness coming through.
- Rock: A carefree young man who lives at his parents’ inn. To Rock, every day is a new chance to party. He does whatever he wants, and if there’s work to be done…he’s probably not going to do it. But what he lacks in money, he makes up for in sheer confidence!
How Does Romance Work?
The way Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life romance works is that you have to raise the Heart Level of the bachelors and bachelorettes to become intimate with them. This is done by frequently talking with them and giving them gifts.
How to Increase Heart Level
The best way to immediately increase Heart Level and romance one of the bachelors and bachelorettes is by giving them multiple gifts. You can give the romance options multiple gifts per day however you can’t give them the same gift twice in one day. This means that if you want to give your romance partner of choice their favorite gift twice, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to do so. If you’re having trouble looking for the romance options so you can talk to them and give them gifts, you can open the map to check out their location.
Unlock Heart Events
There are also events that will unlock once you raise a romance options Heart Level high enough. You’ll get the option to watch a scene where your farmer interacts with them and gives more depth to their character. You can watch the cutscene by leaving your house and going to a specific area in Forgotten Valley at a specific time, which triggers the Heart Event.
Heart Events are completely optional and aren’t required for marriage. So there’s no real loss if you miss the event. You may want to trigger this event with your partner of choice since it will give you dialogue options that will give you the chance to develop a closer connection with this character.
Rival Events
In contrast to Heart Events, there are Rival Events where the romance options for Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life find themselves interacting with each other. These Rival Events are also optional, but watching too many of them can cause these characters to get married to each other. It’s hard to trigger these events, and they happen by chance. If you want to play matchmaker, then witness enough Rival Events to pair up all of your romance options with each other.
Monitor Heart Levels
You can quickly check how close you are with someone in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life by opening the Resident Info menu or reading their diary. You will see a Heart Level and Friendship Level for all the available bachelors and bachelorettes, which shows how intimate you’ve become with them. Each bachelor and bachelorette has 10 Heart levels, and the higher their Heart level, the higher the chances of them romancing you. However, this will only be available in Chapter 1 and the Heart Level will completely disappear at the start of Chapter 2 and onwards. The reason for the Heart Level disappearing is because you’re required to marry one of the bachelors or bachelorettes before you can clear the first chapter.
How to Marry in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
All romance in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life leads to marriage. By the end of Chapter 1, you need to select one of the romance options by either giving them a Blue Feather as a proposal or waiting until the end of Year One where you’ll be given a list of marriage candidates you’re close to.
You can choose not to marry someone, but this will essentially end the game. If you choose not to marry any of the romance options in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you’ll pack up and leave Forgotten Valley forever. Marriage is tied into the game’s progression, so you have to do this if you want to proceed past Year One.
Propose With Blue Feather
Once you have picked your romance partner of choice, you can propose to them by giving them a Blue Feather. You can be rejected if your Heart Level isn’t high enough, so you should at least get it to eight hearts before you propose marriage.
It isn’t a guarantee that they’ll accept your proposal at eight hearts, but if you want to be completely sure, you could put in the extra work to get them to ten hearts, where they’re sure to accept the Blue Feather.
Getting the Blue Feather is easy and, thankfully, free. During Day 10 of Spring, you’ll get a cutscene with the Nature Sprites and then receive the Blue Feather at the end of it. This cutscene will happen automatically, so you won’t miss it regardless of what you do. Regardless of whether you’ve been raising Heart Levels or not, you’ll have to propose to someone.
Wait for Takakura
If you haven’t given anyone the Blue Feather or if the romance option you gave it to turned you down, then you can wait for Takakura at the end of Day 10 of Winter. You’ll get a cutscene where he enters your home and gives you a list of marriage candidates you can pick from.
Once Takakura tells you that someone is waiting to talk to you, you’ll be given a list of options for who to marry. The bachelors and bachelorettes that appear on this list will depend on how high the Heart Level you have with someone is. If your Heart Level with Cecilia is too low, for example, she won’t show up on the list of people you can marry.
Picking one of the options will make them arrive at your house shortly, where you’ll have a different conversation depending on who you pick. You’ll be given the option to propose marriage to your pick, and they’re guaranteed to accept. Since marriage is required to clear Chapter 1, you have to propose.
If you choose not to propose at this point, your farmer will leave Forgotten Valley. Don’t worry, though, as you’ll be able to load back into your previous save, so you won’t lose progress forever.
Can You Have Children in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?
Yes, you can have children in the game. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will actually force you to raise a child at the end of Year One in addition to having to be married. You can pick your child’s gender at the end of Year One, when you and your marriage partner are wed. They’ll ask you if you prefer a son or a daughter, and in the following year, you’ll get your little bundle of joy.
One of the core mechanics of the game is watching your child grow and influencing them to develop their own character. How they turn out will also depend on who you choose to marry and your own actions. Children in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will pick up traits from both of their parents. The first is farming, which they get from you; the second part of their personality depends on your spouse.
Interacting with your child will also help them grow. Build a relationship with them by giving them gifts and generally interacting with them. You’ll watch your baby grow from an infant to a young adult as the years pass by.
Can You Divorce?
It may be possible to divorce your marriage partner in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. You can potentially divorce your marriage partner by not farming and refusing to interact with them. After not providing for your spouse and child, your marriage partner will take the kid with them and leave.
We haven’t tried this yet, so we’re unsure if it’s true. In the original Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, which was remade into Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you can divorce your partner by doing just that. However, it’s difficult to do so and near impossible unless you’re doing it on purpose.
Can You Romance Multiple Partners?
While you can choose to romance multiple partners by raising their Heart Levels to your liking, you can only marry one of the bachelors and bachelorettes in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. After you’ve picked your marriage partner on Day 10 of Winter, you can no longer romance the others.
Is There Same-Sex Romance in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?
Yes, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life features same-sex romance with any of the romance and marriage options. You can choose whoever you want to romance regardless of their sex, so the gender you picked at the beginning of the game won’t matter.
