What Are Barn Finds?
Barn Finds is a real life activity that involves the process of discovering derelict old classic vehicles stowed away in a hidden location. Named “barn finds” because of their tendency to be located on barns and old sheds.
Every Forza Horizon installment features barn finds which are scattered throughout the game’s map. In Forza Horizon 5 you can find a grand total of 15 barn finds around map of Mexico. Once you find these vehicles you can acquire them for yourself and then fully repair them for your personal use.

- You need to first receive a rumor from one of the Horizon Festival’s many representatives, like Alex or Alejandra.
- Play the main story. Most of these rumors are related to your progression through the Forza Horizon 5 Horizon Adventure storyline.
- Buy the La Cabaña property in the northwest portion of the map which will reward you with a Barn Find rumor.
You unfortunately can’t just seek all of them out right from the very start of the game. Barns in Forza Horizon 5 feature all 14 of the antique cars that must be discovered and restored in the game.
1963 Volkswagen Beetle
The unlock requirements for the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle can be quite steep. Although technically one of the first barn finds in Forza Horizon 5, you most likely won’t obtain it till much later. This is because it is personally tied to a side mission activity. You won’t be able to achieve this car by simply finding it on the map.
To start with, this barn find can be unlocked by completing one of the Horizon Stories; the one for Alejandra, who is the game’s mechanic, as she locates her father’s derelict old Volkswagen Beetle. You won’t be able to unlock this vehicle until the penultimate mission for of the “Vocho” Horizon Story. And even though you’ll be able to complete the first chapter of Vocho early in the game, you won’t be able to unlock the succeeding chapters until you progress through Horizon Mexico’s section in Adventure.
After helping Alejandra fix her father’s Beetle, you can then secure the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle for yourself after the final photo is taken in a place of significance for the car. You can do this by redeeming an Accolade which will add the vehicle to your garage.
When you’re in the Horizon Hall of Fame, the final chapter for the Vocho Horizon Story will unlock. Completing the last chapter will reward you with a custom Forza Edition 1963 Volkswagen Beetle that has its own unique performance and upgrades.
1967 Ford Racing Escort RS 1600 MK1
There doesn’t seem to be any specific unlock requirements for the 1967 Ford Racing Escort RS 1600 MK1. You can find it hanging around the Horizon Mexico Festival site. We recommend using a car with decent off-road capabilities as the 1967 Ford Racing Escort RS 1600 MK1 is located above the La Gran Caldera. It’s not at the peak of the volcano, but the car is located in a side road about halfway up.
1967 Ford Racing Escort RS 1600 MK1 can be restored with relative ease and you’ll soon find yourself cruising on this old classic once you find it.
1970 GMC Jimmy
Unlike the other barn finds, the 1970 GMC Jimmy can be a bit tricky to spot as you have to be busy doing the Horizon Apex Expedition. You can unlock the expedition via the Horizon Adventure screen. Once you’ve received the task of jumping the tallest building located around ancient ruins you’ll be able to this barn find at the very peak of your jump.
You should finish the Horizon Apex Expedition first before going to look for it. The drone mode should come in handy here. The 1970 GMC Jimmy is located close to the ruins you made the jump. Like the 1967 Ford Racing Escort RS 1600 MK1, it doesn’t take much to restore it back to full condition.
1991 Jaguar XJR-15
This sports car has an entire expedition that is dedicated to just entirely locating it. The 1991 Jaguar XJR-15 can be acquired by completing the Horizon Wilds Expedition. Said expedition has you racing through an abandoned airport in search of Ramiro’s equipment. Once you have all of his notes, the barn find location will be made available to you.
1962 Ferrari 250 GTO
You can find the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO by looking around the Horizon Apex Festival site. There isn’t any special requirements to unlock it and it’ll be yours for the taking soon as you find it on the map. This barn find is hidden away between the coast and farmlands near the festival site. The 1962 Ferrari 260 GTO takes significantly longer to fix than any of the other barn finds.
1968 Renault 4L Export
This barn find will cost you money. In order to unlock the 1968 Renault 4L Export you have to purchase La Cabaña which is around 150,000 credits. This player house can be purchased after you build the Horizon Baja Festival site. Once you purchase this house the barn find location will be added to your map.

1993 Toyota T100 #1 Baja Truck
This barn find is located at the peak of La Gran Caldera and requires that you finish the Baja Expedition to find it. The 1993 Toyota T100 #1 Baja Truck should be located pretty close to the Horizon Baja festival site.
1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione
There are no special requirements to unlock the 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione which can be located near the Rush Expedition. Other than its location and the time it takes to find it, you can acquire this barn find for yourself with a little work. It’s a bit challenging to find due to the fact it is hidden well within the trees and greenery so you’ll have some difficulty finding it even with the drone.
1953 Chevrolet Corvette
With no special requirements to achieve this barn find, the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette is easy to grab. You’ll be able to find it by driving around the Horizon Street Scene Festival site.
1999 Dodge Viper GTS ACR
