Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak New Silkbind Attacks and Switch Skill Swap

Players of Monster Hunter Rise will find themselves mastering the new Switch Skill Swap mechanic along with the new Silkbind Attacks for every weapon type in the game once they reach Sunbreak. Hunters can create new combos and chain them in interesting ways, while also hunting their targets in style.

In this guide, we will be looking at the newest Silkbind Attacks as well as the new attacks added in for every weapon type in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

How Switch Skill Swap works

The new Switch Skill Swap will allow hunters to switch between red and blue switch skill swap scrolls. These scrolls contain the different switch skills and silkbind attacks that each weapon type possesses. Prior to this, hunters had to set their skills at their chest before heading into a hunt, but thanks to this new mechanic, hunters can now switch between their skills on the fly and in the middle of a hunt.

Sword and Shield

Destroyer Oil: Uses a Wirebug to cover your blade with a special ointment that makes monsters flinch more easily.
Twin Blade Combo: Switches out the shield bash and sword slash with a spinning slash and a sword thrust.

Switch Axe

Elemental Burst Counter: Compresses Switch Gauge into energy that can be released in an Elemental Burst.
Axe: 2-Staged Morph Slash Combo: Hastens and modifies some of the swings which allows for another swing to connect with the monster.

Heavy Bowgun

Setting Sun: A Wirebug generates a ring that if multi-hit ammo is fired through, the total number of hits increases upon impact.
Crouching Shot: The lower center of gravity allows for shooting more rounds in a quick succession.

Insect Glaive

Awakened Kinsect Attack: A technique where you throw a Kinsect to inflict massive damage.
Kinsect Slash: The Kinsect leads the tip of the glaive as it thrusts through the air.

Hammer

Impact Burst: Adds a shockwave to charged attacks for a period of time, making it easier to flinch monsters.
Spinning Bludgeon: Charge: Charges the hammer as the hunter charges forward and landing a downwards smash.

Great Sword

Strongarm Stance: A technique that uses Ironsilk to reinforce both your arms and weapon temporarily to fend off attacks.
Surge Slash Combo: Three downward slashes of the great sword in quick succession.

Hunting Horn

Silkbind Shockwave: For a short period of time, any follow-up attack performed triggers additional hits.
Swing Combo: Swinging the hunting horn creates momentum that allows the hunter to sidestep and reposition.

Bow

Butcher’s Bind: Fires an arrow loaded with Ironsilk. If a follow-up arrow hits the same spot, it inflicts severing damage.
Stake Thrust: Uses a stake to do a quick forward melee thrust.

Charge Blade

Ready Stance: A Silkbind maneuver that binds sword and axe together with Ironsilk.
Phial Follow-up: Firing Pin: Leaves a spot of elemental charge that accumulates damage as it gets hit, and detonates after reaching a threshold.

Gunlance

Bullet Barrage: Blast Dash to close in suddenly and unleash everything with abandon.
Erupting Cannon: Fires off a stake and heats up the tip of the cannon, enhancing slashing attacks for a certain period of time.

Lance

Skyward Thrust: Thrust your lance towards the heaves and then pierce the earth.
Shield Tackle: Dash forward with the shield held up front to go through attacks and reposition.

Long Sword:

Harvest Moon: Landing counters within the ring will add additional hits. Staying in the ring will also prevent the spirit gauge from depleting.
Sacred Sheathe Combo: Unleash a follow-up attack upon sheathing your weapon.

Light Bowgun

Wyvern Counter: An urgent retreat that fires a shot with massive recoil.
Critical Firepower: Raises the damage output of shots, but narrows down the critical distance and increases recoil.

Dual Blades

Spiral Slash: A Silkbind attack where your body acts as a drill as your blades bore into your target’s flesh.
Slide Slash Combo: Slides to the side while still landing a hit, allowing repositioning without breaking the combo.
