    Is NBA 2K23 Cross-Platform Play?

With NBA 2K23 being the first of its kind to come to this many platforms, you might be excited about widening the roster of friends you can play with. Before you buy NBA 2K23, you might want to first learn about details regarding its multiplayer. This article will talk all about NBA 2K23 cross-platform play if there even is any available feature.

    Is NBA 2K23 Cross-Play?

NBA 2K23 will not have cross-play and 2K has confirmed that cross-platform between PC, consoles, and Switch will not be available. In their site’s FAQ, 2K mentioned that it is only possible to play with people in the same console as you.

This also extends to cross-gen multiplayer. Players in the previous console generation cannot play with the current console gen. This is because NBA 2K23 editions are different for each console generation. You’ll have to play in the same console family and generation if you want to play multiplayer with friends.

It’s a shame that there’s such a big limitation as a lack of NBA 2K23 cross-platform play. This will severely limit who you can play with, especially since with the addition of Triple Threat Online in MyTEAM you can now play co-op of up to three. With this in mind, you’ll have to talk it out with the friends you’re planning on playing NBA 2K23 with.

How Does NBA 2K23 Cross-Progression Work?

NBA 2K23 does have cross-progression in lieu of the lack of cross-play. How this works is that you can transfer MyTEAM progress and your virtual currency between the same console family. You can freely use MyTEAM Cross-Progression to bring your progress over between two generation consoles.

Cross progression will not be available for PC and Switch. You will not be able to transfer progress from different platforms. Only PlayStation and Xbox can transfer progress between PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series S|X.

What’s interesting though is that the NBA 2K23 FAQ mentioned that you’re able to transfer MyTEAM and VC to previous gen consoles. This means that if you’re playing on the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, you can also bring your progression to the previous consoles.

If you have both previous gen and current gen consoles, it might be in your best interest to get the Michal Jordan, Digital Deluxe, or Championship editions which comes with a copy for both generations.

    Is NBA 2K23 Cross-Platform Play

We hope this answered any question you might have about NBA 2K23 Cross-Platform Play. While it might have very limited multiplayer, there’s still a lot to look forward to for NBA 2K23. Check out our other NBA 2K23 content that will help you learn more about the game.
