Just 2 more days to go and the month of July will end, and it’s the start of August. A month where a decent amount of highly-anticipated games will launch. There’s a lot like Ark Survival Evolved will officially launch across three platforms this August 8, you have LawBreakers – a multiplayer first-person shooter – and Yakuza Kiwami from Sega.
But these games didn’t make a cut in my top 5 list.
Now, I bring to you the 5 games that you need to be excited for in August:
Life is Strange: Before the Storm – Episode 1 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Deck Nine | August 31
Deck Nine’s prequel of Life is Strange will launch this August 31st, and we’re pretty excited for it. We will get to know more about Chloe Price’s backstory. The studio already confirmed that time-travel will not be present in Before the Storm, it will, however, focus on this “Backtalk” mechanic where players have to select dialogue options which will have consequences.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (PS4, PC)
Ninja Theory | August 8
The studio has been working with Hellblade for almost 3 years now. They began development way back in 2014 and revealed the game at E3 in 2015. It’s an action-adventure hack and slash new IP and that it gives a little bit of feel from Horizon: Zero Dawn. It’s a completely different, but it’s quite interesting to know what the lore will be of Hellblade. It’s one of the most great looking title this year.
Agents of Mayhem (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Volition | August 15
Considered to be a spin-off of the Saints Row franchise, Agents of Mayhem takes place in Seoul, South Korea. It does have that Saints Row feel and humor. The cartoon-ish art direction fits perfectly with the game’s setting. I can’t wait what else I can do in this open-world title.
Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle (Nintendo Switch)
Ubisoft | August 29
This is probably the only game that I might not get to play since I don’t have a Nintendo Switch yet. The XCOM-style tactical gameplay allures me the most. I’ve played XCOM, and I know how great the mechanics were, and that it’s integrated in Mario+Rabbids with some additional quirks that makes it fun to play.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (PS4)
Naughty Dog | August 22
The most hyped PlayStation exclusive Uncharted spin-off is launching this month. It’s confirmed to have the biggest level of the franchise where players can explore and traverse. It focuses on Chloe and Nadine’s adventure, with the former being the most beloved character, which doesn’t involve Nathan Drake.
