Elden Ring – Where to Find & How to Get Smithing Stones

Elden Ring

Smithing Stones in Elden Ring are a vital resource for players, allowing them to enhance their weapons and shields. When you enter new regions, bosses and even low-tier enemies have a lot more health, making the Lands Between more tough. Fans will need to employ Smithing Stones to power up their gear in the early stages of the game.

You may be unsure of where to obtain these resources. Smithing Stones are not extremely difficult to come by if you follow along with this guide, which will show you the best farming spots and how to locate vendors later in the game that sell the higher rarity variations.

Where to find and farm Elden Ring Smithing Stones and Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing farming locations

Tier 1 Smithing Stones – referred to in-game as “Smithing Stones [1]” – can be used to upgrade your weapons from their most basic form. The number in square brackets indicates the stone’s tier, where the greater the number, the better the stone, and it is not to be confused with the number of stones you acquire. At a smithing table, you can use Runes and Smithing Stones to improve your armaments.

The map below shows where Smithing Stones and other upgrade materials can be found.

Zamor Ruins - Elden Ring

Look for a stairwell descending down in the ruins. In a chest at the foot of the stairs, you will discover the Smithing-Stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [3].

Outside of world drops, there are a few good spots to find Smithing Stone 5s if you’re hunting for them now.

We recommend starting with the Wyndham Catacombs and the Wyndham Ruins. Liurnia-of-the Lakes is to the north-west of them. You can use this marker to get a general idea of where to look for them:

Wyndham - Elden Ring

There’s a decent supply of Smithing Stone [5] in certain places, but there’s no assurance that you’ll be able to stock up. Even so, this is a fantastic location for farming with a high degree of consistency.

Farming soldiers patrolling Lyndell’s Royal Capital may be a better choice. Smithing Stone [5] are common drops from them.

Smithing Stone [6], on the other hand, are a little more elusive. The only viable farming area that players have located so far is in Lyndell Royal Capital, which appears to be your best hope for global drops.

The item needed to buy Smithing Stones 7 and 8 from Roundtable Hold is Smithing-stone Miner’s Bell Bearing [4], which can only be found in Crumbling Farum Azula, a late-game area where the feared Godskin Duo boss fight awaits. It is yours if you manage to survive the encounter and get your hands on this wonderful item.
