Ghostwire: Tokyo_20220322020142

There’s more to just sending Visitors back to the void in Ghostwire Tokyo, there’s also a tanuki hunt too. KK and Akito often come across others who are affected by the Visitors’ incursion into the living realm, and they often feel the need to help them out. One such group is the tanuki who have arrived in Tokyo for some sightseeing only to get lost and scattered around the city.

What is Tanuki in Ghostwire Tokyo?

Known as the Japanese raccoon dog, Ghostwire Tokyo tanuki are mischievous trickers who shapeshift with supernatural abilities. In Japanese folklore, they are seen as a sign of good luck. They also happen to dislike cats very much, almost adversarial in nature.

How to unlock Tanuki Hunt Side Mission in Ghostwire Tokyo

The Ghostwire Tokyo Tanuki Hunt Side Mission is first unlocked after clearing Shiroyama Shrine. The boss tanuki asks Akito to look for the 25 other tanukis who got lost when the Visitors first took over Shibuya. It is up to the player to flush the tanuki out of hiding and tell them to meet back with their boss at the Kirigaoka Shrine.

Keep a wary eye out, the seat you’re sitting on, the big bowl of ramen you’re about to eat, that conspicuously out-of-place road sign you spotted? They could all be transformed tanuki in disguise!

How to complete a Tanuki Hunt in Ghostwire Tokyo

In your search for the lost tanuki, you may sometimes come across a cat that suspects something is not what it seems. This is an indicator that a hidden tanuki is not too far off.

Alternatively, you can scan the area with the Spectral Vision ability. Tanukis have a tendency to wave their tail around, even after transforming. This is often a dead giveaway for someone who’s paying close attention to their surroundings.
